Canon R7 has several new computational photography modes:

The last one seems to be a development of this patent:

https://www.canonwatch.com/canon-patent-for-subject-blur-correction-computational-photography/

Canon R10 also has this(which does not have IBIS). I guess the camera uses AI tracking mode to estimate vehicle velocity across the frame, and automatically finds an appropriate shutter speed.

It is possible that R7 has a more advanced IBIS based blur correction mode. People might have to test it with the 100-500 or other such lens with IS mode 2(panning). I personally have no experience with RF full frame or lenses. With some background in engineering, I can say that this problem is not trivial. Remember high school physics questions where, say, a boat had a certain velocity, and another boat had some other velocity, and you find relative velocity etc. In panning, where frame of view and subject are both moving parallel to each other horizontally(ideal case), it makes sense that IBIS unit calculates relative motion to find a middle way for compensation. I guess SCN modes may not be as trivial and "beginner" as they are derided.

The EOS R7 is equipped with a durable shutter capable of shooting up to 200 000 cycles and is designed to support better image stabilisation.

By attaching the shutter unit to the body via a shock absorber, the sound and vibration of the shutter release are suppressed. When turned off, there’s a shutter curtain for added protection for the sensor.

This is a result of this patent:

The mystery camera in this patent is obviously the R7

Also, R7 has a vertical mode. Perhaps this patent has also been realised. I didn't find any reviwer mention it. Jared Polin did mention vertical videos and vertical view in EVF.

This next patent is also incorporated in SCN mode:

Perhaps this as well. R7 boasts improved HDR.

Finally, R7 has compact sensor protection by shutter curtain. May be from this patent:

https://www.canonwatch.com/canon-patent-imaging-sensor-protection-mechanism/

Next, we might get a focal reducer for EF to RF-S

Interesting information, thanks for sharing.

I photograph propeller airplanes in flight. I use low shutter speeds to capture prop blur. It will be interesting to see if this new panning mode, along with IBIS benefits me.

Of course having good panning skills is important. But technology can help.

How big is the panorama? 200 shots!

Also any thoughts anyone on flash sync at 1/320?

I wonder if that pano mode will work with horizontal only, or can stitch a combination of horizontal and vertical shots? Some nice features on that cam.
