One of the oldest threads on DPReview - and still going strong! As discussed, we are going to extend the Monochrome tread going forward and keep it running for the entire week - Friday to Friday. I'm also *very* encouraged by the amount of interactive comments picking up again lately. I'm certain we can keep this MC thread valuable for a lot of people going forward!

#594|MONOCHROME THREAD|POST YOURS|20May2022-27May2022

The world always looks a little different in shades of grey- or of sepia, or of platinum, or of...Post one monochrome or more, taken any time, of any subject and processed any way you like.

If you like Monochrome please leave one or two others a comment as it is always interesting to know how you feel, see or experience images of others. This is a friendly request, not a rule.

*So...................*How does the world look to you?*

Some recent Photos I took at a concert attached. All manual. AF was unlikely to work in the very dim light anyway. Hard Rock / Heavy Metal.

Excellent, atmospheric series.

Not sure if this thread is in the right forum.

Anyway, here are some quick shots I took with my trusty Panasonic LUMIX GF1 + Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 lens, B/W dynamic mode. All photos are more or less OOC JPEGs.

I have newer and more advanced cameras, but I love GF1 + 20mm f/1.7 combination with black and white live view for simplicity. I get the "this would make a great photograph" moment, then I simply set the aperture, focus & frame, shoot, and continue my walk.

It was very sunny, and it was somewhat difficult to see the screen. Also the LVF-1 EVF is very low resolution (200k dots!). That did not bother me, in fact it was a source of inspiration!

Comments and critique is welcome.

1. UFO bridge. Horizon straightened in DxO PhotoLab, other corrections disabled. Panasonic LUMIX GF1, 20mm f/1.7.

6. West from Most SNP. Rotated 90°, otherwise OOC JPEG. Panasonic LUMIX GF1, 20mm f/1.7. The dynamic range of the sensor + dynamic photo mode makes this photo quite dark.

I originally posted the colour version of this to Week Through Your Eyes where it generated some comments about the light and shadow. At the time I was away and did not have access to an editor, but had in mind a mono version. Now I'm back ...
