Hi, does anyone have experience of the effectiveness of the hand held high res mode on Olympus omd em 1 iii or 1x ? Is it worth up grading from mark ii ? Thanks.

MAJOR cost, size, and weight increase over the E-M1 MkIII, if the O.P. doesn't mind. Personally, I don't feel it's near worth it. ;-)I'll say it's good. Pana GH6 HHHR would probably be considered better, for the way it handles moving objects within the multiple HR shots.
I have the EM1.3 and still haven't found a case where HHHR was critical for my shot and opened new creativity ways. It works but don't really know where to use! I am very curious to see photos where HHHR made them look better.Hi, does anyone have experience of the effectiveness of the hand held high res mode on Olympus omd em 1 iii or 1x ? The improvement is noticeable to me, especially for larger prints. Perhaps for web sharing or social media the differences are not worthwhile.I have the EM1.3 and still haven't found a case where HHHR was critical for my shot and opened new creativity ways. You will have less noise with HHHR. That is especially visible in higher ISOs (almost 3 stops difference at ISO 1600). Less noise also means better tonality.I have the EM1.3 and still haven't found a case where HHHR was critical for my shot and opened new creativity ways. It works but don't really know where to use! That is most certainly true for the HiRez raw files. For my use cases I most often choose the 25 mpx HHHR JPEGS over the Raws. Maybe not as suitable for huge blowups, but much less sharpening needed and I find the final results to compare favorably with the Raws. One thing I have discovered is don't be afraid to wind up the output sharpening to max after resizing.
In fact I find it essential, I use Sharpen AI.
Carol,A question for anyone using HHHR on the OM-1. When I did it it seems the only option is to get both a JPEG and a RAW or just JPEG. I don’t remember this being the case on the Mark3. I only want the RAW files but that doesn’t seem to be an option on the OM-1.
Have both cameras, and I say yes, get one now. If you think you'll use the mode, absolutely get an X or III.Hi, does anyone have experience of the effectiveness of the hand held high res mode on Olympus omd em 1 iii or 1x ? Is it worth up grading from mark ii ? Thanks.
