Sorry if this seems elementary but I just got this camera from switching from Nikon( give me some slack here), I was wondering what mount adapter I would need if there is one to make this lens work on this body? Also I got the Sony 24-105 for a all around lens any suggestions on a good landscape lens/ zoom lens?

There are at least three versions of Sigma 150-600mm lenses, and each is available in several mounts.

If your Sigma is in Sony E mount, you do not need an adapter.

If your Sigma is in another mount (Nikon F, for example), then you have a choice: you can get the appropriate adapter (eg: Sony E to Nikon F), or you can take your lens to Sigma and pay them to switch its mount (Sigma offers this service, I don’t know of any other lens maker who does).

I used it on my Nikon but I want to use it on my Sony what adaptor do i need?
I said: you have a choice.
  • get the adapter from Nikon to Sony E
  • get the lens converted by Sigma to Sony mount (pay to convert)

what adapter from Nikon to Sony E should i get I see a bunch on b and h and the price range is differnt. Does it matter which on I get?

If you call b&h (tomorrow) they will be happy to make sure you get it right. Top notch customer service.

I would not recommend using an adapter for the Nikon mount version of that lens.

I think better choices would be:

1. See if Sigma can convert it to Sony E mount. I don't think this is possible from a DSLR mount to a mirrorless mount, but it doesn't hurt to ask, and Sigma is generally very responsive to inquiries.

2. See if Sigma will give you trade credit towards the E mount version. Or sell it and get the E mount version.

3. Have it converted to EF mount and use the Sigma MC-11 adapter.

If your reasoning is that you still want to use it on Nikon bodies, there are a few F to E adapters, but mostly these don't work as well as the EF to E adapters, and the MC-11 adapter for Sigma lenses provides a lot of extra functionality beyond what is available from the generic EF to E adapters.

Specifically about the F to E adapters, there are effectively two available. One is sold under three brand names, with slightly different firmware: Fotodiox, Commlite, and Vello. The other is made by Viltrox. The Viltrox is, last I looked, the least expensive option. Each of them has some lenses they work OK with, some they work less OK with, and many they don't work with. You may be able to find compatibility information where one or more of them are known to work with the Sigma 150-600, but, again, and especially if this is the only lens you want to adapt to the A7R4, I don't think an F to E adapter is the best option.

A7R4a with SEL2470Z, 55Z, and a number of adapted lenses (Canon FD, Minolta AF, Canon EF, Leica, Nikon...); A7R converted to IR.

Sigma offered a number of their DSLR lenses in E mount - the E-mount versions were longer, by about the length of an adapter…

Yes. This was not one of them.
