Want your thoughts on what is the best m43 lens? If you could only have one high quality lens what would it be?

mine PL 25/1.4

12-40/2.8 mkii.

Why pay extra for an ILC, if you never change the lens? Just get a used RXR II and be happy.

Jeez, variation on "which child do you like best?"

I don't know, but Shorty over there is really bugging me today, so definitely not him.

Highest level of achievement award goes to 12-100/4. Very possibly the most useful lens I own.

Sharpest? Tie between the 17/1.2 and 300/4. Still boggled.

Just fun? 75/1.8

You asked for one, didn't you.

Sorry!

You do not say what for. That makes it impossible to answer.

You do say "if you could have only one". That limits the choice to zooms.

Optically, the best "jack of almost all trades" would have to be the 12-100/4. But it is a $@#* brick for travel :)

For travel, the cheap expendable collapsable little and light 12-32 is hard to beat.

It would be the 12-35/2.8. Small and lots of versatility in terms of focal range and light gathering. Any other lens, for me, is a case of diminishing returns. But thanks to the small size of my m43 lenses, I'm fine with bringing them. Therefore I denounce your scenario, sir!!!!!!!!! Good day to you.

I think this lens is just all around amazing. And in my personal opinion is the best lens for the system if you need a macro lens.

My favorite lens however is the 12mm f/2.0. The focusing clutch and the construction just feels amazing (with more lenses had this feature, it's so good). And I love that focal length.

Of the lenses I've owned: The M.Zuiko 12-45mm f/4 Pro. No question. And I have a LOT of M.Zuiko lenses, including the M.Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Pro.

I qualify my answer based upon the rave reviews and avid following of the M.Zuiko 12-100mm f/4 Pro. I've never owned it, and I probably should have.

Only one? Hmmmm…

Voigtländer 17.5mm, I guess. Or the Voigtländer 42.5mm.

On second thought, I'll take both. We'll call them a zoom, OK? 😜

Best lens is the one you have, the one you can afford, and hopefully the one that suits your shooting style.

There are something like 90 lenses now. I've tried many over the years and none of them were really stinkers. It's the largest mirrorless lens system by a long shot. When I started getting more serious about photography I owned the 75-300 and it was the best lens ever (for me), and it was expensive for my situation at the time

I'm still thankful that MFT got me more interested in photography and continues to excite me with cool lenses and bodies, regardless of the price point

happy shooting

For me, the 12-100 and it's not really close. Lots of lenses I love (25 1.2, 75 1.8), but none that tick all of the boxes.

Size is the knock, but for what it offers, it's only large compared to the mean M43 lens size.

I mostly shoot during travel, and paired with a fast prime, it's 100% all I need.

Mine is the mine PL 15mm f1.7 (and is currently the only m43 lens I have, which doesn't leave my Pen F.)

What prime would you pair with the 12-100?

I agree. I can't say the 60mm always the best, but it is my favorite, even among other lenses on other cameras.

All great choices. :)

12-40/2.8, without a doubt. On my E-M1 II.

If I could only take one lens, all over the world.
