I bet it survived too. :-) At least I hope it did. I noticed there was a lens hood on it. That hopefully protected the lens glass when it tumbled down. I have hoods on all my lenses. I have purchased most or all of them on Ebay (if they did not come with the lens). The hoods for me also protect the glass from the rain, when I get a few sprinkles on the body of the camera (a lot of times even when I'm under an umbrella).

For me, this is also a must-have accessory.
