Hi, Just got a RX100 VI, i did have a RX100IV previously and used this case:

Case

It is actually a good case and quick to get the camera in and out.

I was thinking of maybe getting one that i could also carry a couple of spare batteries in (i cant with the one i have)

I do mainly like ones that go over the shoulder or cross body.

A compartment for the camera would be nice so it isn't just loose and move about a lot.

Water resistant would also be nice but not a must.

Regards

James

Hi, I tend to carry my RX100VA is either a small general purpose shoulder bag, sometimes called a man bag, which allows for other paraphernalia, or in a LowePro Apex 100 (don't think they are made today, but still available), which gives room for batteries, cards, etc and which has a built in rain cover.

If hiking or skiing I put it into a small neoprene case in my pocket.

Interested to see other people's ideas.

I’ve been using the same MegaGear Leather Camera Case for nearly 3 years. It has met my needs 100% over several thousand miles of walking in widely ranging conditions. Compact, durable, easy to wear on a belt and fast to access the camera. Not completely waterproof / dust proof but if I am out in bad conditions my waterproof jacket covers it. A shower cap can quickly be put over it if necessary. I don’t want additional storage for batteries which is going to make the case larger. I can always find a pocket in my clothing / rucksack for batteries. If you prefer to go for a shoulder strap you will no doubt receive helpful comment from others. There have been threads on this subject before so it may be worth doing a search.

Bought years back for another compact so now is home for my RX100M6....

Belt pouch, originally for some Canon camera, you can see the two holes on the front where I ripped off the metal Canon logo as it snagged on things. One spare battery and card in a slot in the lid. That diagonal zip arrangement does not snag or scratch the camera like the clam shell opening types.

I find the Think Tank Mirrorless Mover 5 to be great for my RX100 VII

The camera fits nicely, plus there's a divider in the main space that allows enough room for 2-3 filters.

I put my spare battery in the front pocket with the rain cover.

It comes with a shoulder strap and has a magnetic closure, which makes it quick to open, as well as a zip closure for more security.

This bag seems perfect and ticks all the boxes i was wanting, it's on amazon uk as well which is great.

Thanks for letting me know about this one. :)

Thanks! That Think Tank bag looks to be perfect when the Lensmate filter adapter (which I have on order) is in use.

So far, I am using a Case Logic DCB313 which fits my RX100 VII nicely (but no filters or filter adapter). It does fit the portable charger (with spare battery inside) in the front pouch.

I have a nice small, hard case that also protects the camera very well (survived many drops from good heights) and it has an inside pouch that normally fits two extra batteries and a cleaning cloth. It has dual zips so can be closed with the left or right hand and a sturdy clasp so can be hung over the shoulder or around the neck.

It looks similar to this one here, though mine is nearer to 60mm in height than the 50mm of this one here.

Here is my very well used one.

One substantial reason to buy the RX100 series is the size - as a trade off you compromise handling and control size. That being so, why clutter it up with anything, It fits in a pocket, that's its main reason to exist.

I do have a very slim wriststrap fitted and I did get a proper Sony leather case in a package deal with mine but use it only rarely, mainly to have it round my neck and with the mirror folded out use it like you might an old Rolleiflex - looking down to get a different portrait perspective. Even that makes it bulkier than it needs to be.

99% of the time, jacket pocket or top pocket of rucksack.

It was designed as a small thing, keep it small.

Yes - not sure if you can see it in the photo, but I have a filter ring, polariser and lens cap on my RX100 VIII.

This does add a surprising amount of length.

Not so easy when you’re in jeans and a t-shirt, brother.

Agree with this! I have a cheap small Case Logic case that's pretty snug (bought originally for a Canon S90 which is slightly smaller than an RX100). It's nice to have the camera in some type of bag or pouch when conditions dictate. In my case, the camera is most often used for work (audits at industrial sites) and it simply goes in a pocket - one less thing to deal with.

On the strength of the OP's post (and other's comments) I bought the MegaGear for my RX100 VII and so far I think it's perfect!

The synthetic, slightly-stretchy case I had for it before always required two hands to hold the case open so that the lens wouldn't "catch" when sliding it in. This case is perfectly formed - open it up, drop the camera in, and done!

The shoulder strap is handy for when it's the only thing I'm taking with me, and I can just take the strap off and toss it into my little Timbuktu bag if I'm carrying a few more items with me, such as when on a trip.
