Hello:
I have a question about the compatibility of Tamron lenses with a Nikon camera's firmware.
I own a Nikon D7100 and the following Tamron lenses:
Tamron SP Di II AF 17-50mm 1:2.8 Model A16. This lens does not have VR or a built in focus motor.
Tamron SP Di AF 28-75mm 1:2.8 MACRO Model A09. This lens does not have VR or a built in focus motor.
Tamron SP Di AF 70-300mm F/4-5.6. Model A005. This lens DOES have VR and a built in focus motor.
My D7100 currently has firmware versions C 1.01 and L 1.009
The current versions of the available D7100 firmware are C.1.04 and L 2.018
I am considering acquiring a Nikon AF-S 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR DX
If I want to be able to utilize the D7100's automatic Distortion Control function with this Nikon lens, I'm going to have to upgrade the camera's firmware.
My concern is that if I do upgrade the firmware, the Tamron lenses will no longer function properly with this camera. Currently they do function properly.
The other alternative would be to get the Nikon lens, not upgrade the camera's firmware, but then not to be able to use the camera's automatic Distortion Control Function with this Nikon lens. .:-(
Can someone offer some guidance on this issue?
Thanks,
Bill A.
