It's not my original plan neither...
I was looking for some first generation SuperCCD with hope to save my 128M SM card which keep shown card error with my Olympus 4040/5050. I read from aged post saying that Toshiba/Fujifilm cameras are more forgiving to the SM card then Olympus ones.
Just saw this one with ok price so I got it, even thought my 128M SM card still can't work with any of my cameras (it can be read with card reader in computer). This FinePix-1200 is still surprisingly fun to use.

Just remember that my Fuji S2 pro also equipped with SM card slot. I then put my 128M SM card into the camera and it shows the same card error like all my compact cameras however it can be forced to format the card and note the card is back to life.
I’m happy that gave my Olympus 4040 a healthy 46 shots in SHQ mode and the 64M SM move to MX-1200 resulted in more than 100 shots capability.
I bought the MX-1200 here in the USA back on New Years Eve 1999 at Best Buy. Fun little camera that rekindled my interest in photography once again. Nothing special with 1.3 MP resolution, but a real step up from the earlier camera with 0.3MP resolution for far more $$$.
Mine still works just fine. Took it out on December 30, 2019 (20th year of ownership) and shot some pics around the neighborhood in NW Las Vegas, NV. Both pics are SOOC Jpeg shots.
Love those images. I keep coming back to point and shoot cameras. I was on the olympus m4/3s kick earlier today, but I just LOVE images from point and shoots. Plus most times, the small form factor of the cameras make them a boon to shoot.
Few shots from this weekend, Merry Xmas to everyone.
Night time and complex lightening is really give this camera a hard time, but somehow I just keep wanna using it and hoping that 1 out of 10 shot surprise me lol.
The auto WB is really off and give everything a retro 80s feeling reminds me of old Hong Kong movies.
I have to say this. I really like my MX-1200, but there were limitations. The picture was small, no zoom, not wide enough field of view, best results were full size and lightest compression. I upgraded to a FinePix 2800 Zoom in 2003. I liked that camera even better than my MX-1200.

All SOOC Jpeg shots, no modification done. This may be a better P&S camera than the MX-1200 if you really want an older FujiFilm camera cheap.
Yes the pictures from 2800 is way more capable than 1200, using 1200 is more to feel than to get results lol.
But I do like the less "Pro" looking of these old P&S cameras, I like the slick 90's digital stuff looking like 4700z/6800z/F401 with flat shape, buttons and LED lights here and there.
So I'm more interested in Fuji 6800z, hoping I can get a nice one in reasonable price
