Which remote release for GFX100S?

In most circumstances I can use the 2 second timer when using a tripod but there are situations where I need a remote release that doesn’t have a noticeable time lag. I only need it to release the shutter when I’m not standing directly by the camera.

It’s for use outside (not in a studio) and without flash.

I could get a wired Fuji RR-100 but would prefer wireless.
I don’t like the Fuji app.
I haven’t tried Cascable but have read about connection difficulties.

Can anyone recommend any other simple option please?

Unleashed on Kickstarter might be an option. I have the previous version for Nikon. It really is very small. I just put it on and kept it like that. I just forget it is there. No cables. The app works fine for me. Because I like it on the Nikon, I pledged for it hoping it will work just as well for FujiFilm. Before I pledged, I bought the RR-100, because I didn't know Unleashed would become an option then.

Otherwise, Pluto or MIOPS?

I don’t like the app either, but the remote release function works well. Have you given it a decent try in the field?

Thank you. I’ve tried it previously and just tried it again now. It works fine … once connected but to me seemed complicated to get the connection between camera and phone. Maybe I need to practice connecting the camera to the phone and persevere with it a bit more! Thanks.

Just got one and works. I don't like using my phone for these kind of things and using 2 sec timer started driving me nuts.

I’m using a Vello Freewire Plus for Canon. Relatively cheap and works well. I too find the phone app more trouble than it’s worth.

I don't think practice will help. It sometimes takes a while to connect, but once it does it can hold a stable connection, responds quickly and works well for me. Unlike anything that requires WiFi, which I've found to be poor with the GFX system.

I use this. Just be careful that the trigger can easily actuate if the button is pressed when the it's stored in a bag or pocket. I'm always sure to carry spare batteries (rechargeable) and/or I gaffer tape the batteries to the outside of the trigger and load them just before use.

The receiver doesn't suffer from this issue because the it requires a long press of the power button to power on. The trigger has no such button. It transmits any time the button is pressed.

I have tried JJC JM-II and it does not work for the Fuji 100S, the Amazon listed only FX 100.

The supplied cable connected to the camera does not fit into the GFX 100S port.

I also tried the TW-283 /90 For FJ: by Pixel Enterprise Limited does not work either:

same issue, the cable does not for into the camera GFX 100S port.

I have two other products, these do work for the HFX 100S:

A. from Pixel Enterprise Iimited called Oppilas. This works fine, and also the submitted receiver unit does not neccessarily be mounted onto to the hotshoe, if a flash unit is to be mounted. The receiver can just connect to the camera port and hang down or fixed on the camera with a tape. Please note: the connecting cable has a marker on one end, this needs to be connected to the receiver, the other end to the camera.

B. from RFN-4 from Company SMDV (Korea) works with GFX 100S similar like A. With hotshoe or with flash, receiver like with A. solution.

Are you sure? I do not have the JM-II, but the AZ page lists the GFX50S.

I have both the GFX100S and GFX50S and they both have the same remote port, the 2.5 3-conductor.

The JM-II has a 2.5mm plug.

But like I said, I have not used this remote.

Are you sure? I do not have the JM-II, but the AZ page lists the GFX50S.

I asked the question on the AZ page if the remote works for the GFX100s and the answer from the seller is: "Yes it works."

Of course, if one orders it and it doesn't work, you can return it immediately.

Hello, Well, I'm here to tell you that the JJC Model JM-II works on the Fuji GFX100S. In fact I'm using it as I type this reply it's tripping the shutter fine. There is a couple of things I'll point out though. Even though the cable has 2.5mm jacks on each end of the cable, There is a little silver tag on one end that also has a little bulbous area right above the silver tag. The Tag says " Camera Side with an arrow ".

Here is what I experienced When I first plugged the cable into the camera and the receiver and activated the remote transmitter, it would not work. Then I saw the silver tag and I had it plugged into the wrong end, flipped the cable around, It works, Just great. I like these remotes, I had another one I had for the X100V camera that worked well.

Personally, I like the little antenna on the transmitter, (I got a thing for Antennas)
100 feet of coverage is plenty for me doing landscapes or in the studio. About the only negative that I see with it is the Odd Batteries, instead of common AAA, or AA.

For completeness (possible value for future readers), the remote that I bought on AZUS that is no longer available is potentially available in other regions on AZ or other outlets (such as eBay).

This remote has kind of a funky UI, but it works. Typical specs, 100m range, 2.4Ghz.

The main advantage over some others is that it uses more conventional batteries, AAA and CR2032.

I use pocket wizards to remotely fire the GFX camera. They come with 3.5mm connectors and I just used a 3.5 to 2.5mm converter. You can use just the one at the camera to fire it or use another one to fire the one attached to the camera from a great distance. A pretty expensive option I know but very versatile.
