Unwanted Vignetting xe3 with 56 1.4

That's probably the issue. The "toy" filters modes are useless for me, but gave me some unwanted surprise as the OP is experiencing.
I too guess it's the toy filter. Happened to me once and it looked like that. That also explains the strange colours. I'm sure both camera and lens are fine.

Hi all,

New to this setup.

I've had the camera away for quite some time and was finally on a holiday so took some pics and found fairly strong black marking at all 4 corners.

This did not happen when I first got the camera and lens. not sure whats changed or how to "reset" it if possible?

Thanks for any help!
Were you using a hood, filters?? An example would be helpful.
Edit: I see now that the used lens is a Viltrox 1.4/56 and the vignetting is still there using a 2/23….

but nevertheless a possible reason for pseudovignetting:

had the same problem with a Canon 5D 10 y ago…

When I saw the very strong „vignetting“ I found out that the rectangular hood I used was not exactly in the correct position, but about 10-30 degrees from the right position. So, the edges of the hood were not yet in the same position as the frame of the sensor and the Edge of the hood was in the frame.

in this position you have in fact the edge of the hood in the very foreground (with blur, because far under the minimum focal distance.

could also be caused by a rectangular Filter in front of the lens or something like that…

A different reason might be that you did in former times shoot with Autocorrection „on“ and now you shoot without it.

ALL fast lenses have more or less important vignetting if used wide open and without Autocorrection in-camera „on“.

Lenses with apertures of 1.2 or 1.4 often have a loss of 2-3 EV at the borders or in the corners. As for the 1.2/56 it is even less: 1,8 EV without and 0.9 EV with Autocorrection in-camera @ f=1.2

a lens that gets decentered might show similar „vignetting“…

That would help I guess. Here's a good example of the issue.
As mentioned by 2 forum members before me, I'm almost 100 % your camera is set on an "avanced filter" mode.

I can tell because it sometimes happens to me when I turn the left wheel on my Fuji X cameras by accident, and I get the same kind of picture : strong vignetting and also a strong green/blue color cast.

I have no experience with the 56 f1.4. Maybe it’s due to the fact that this is a third party lens and that the in body objective modification option doesn’t work with third party lenses.

I sometime use a 32mm 1.8 from from zeiss on my. X-T2 and, on the Jpegs, I can see noticeable vignetting. Fuji lenses are automatically corrected in camera for that. The Zeiss lens, isn’t. It’s something that I can correct easily on Capture One later on so it’s not a big issue for me.

I would press the drive button on the xe3 and check if you might have accidentally engaged an advanced filter.
No its not the Viltrox and no its not the lens hood because the 56 has no flower shaped lens hood. This is probably the toy camera filter.

Annnnnnd a factory reset worked!
thanks to all, must have been a button I touched…weird couldn’t tell a filter was on.

I’ll have to get more familiar with this menu system.

cheers
It's the toy camera filter. This is avtivated thru the drive mode selctor.
Weird. don't know how that happened. thanks again all! Happy it was a simple fix
