I searched pretty thoroughly and didn’t see any recommendations for what I’m looking for which probably means I’m searching for the wrong thing. :-)

I travel a lot with my Canon R5 + EF/RF adapter and my EF 100-400 lens. When flying, I store the lens in the soft case from Canon and have been wrapping the camera body/adapter in soft clothing in a stuff sack. I carry both in my carryon backpack.

I’m looking for recommendations for a small bag/case for the camera body+adapter that will give it a little protection and make it easier to pull out for security screening. I don’t want/need a big hard case and haven’t found any good small soft or hard cases.

Does anyone have recommendations?

You could look at the Think Tank roller bags.

I'm looking at a Think Tank Backstory 13 for my D850, but it might be slightly too big for your needs.
