Not at all sure, if this is the correct forum to post this topic; Admin can let me know if there is a more appropriate forum to post on...

I've been seeing the round magnetic filter kits for a few years now. As of late, I got curious if they had a ring adapter set to convert the regular threaded filter (77mm for all of mine) into a magnetic. Here in the US of A, I could not find anything. AliExpress had such a set of adapters to take the threaded filter (77mm & 82mm) one end, and another adapter to attach to the front of the camera.

Ba-Bing! Magnetized filter system using existing threaded filters. The issue for me, at hand, is that I've never ordered from AliExpress and thus am a little apprehensive about putting the order through.

- Any experience with AliExpress?

- Any experience with an adapted system for existing threaded filters?

Cheers

I've never used Ali Express, but the brand Kase has been around for some time, and seems well received. So you can probably find this elsewhere too.

1 thin to consider is that the added adapter to your existing filter will add some extra thickness/stack, which may lead to vignetting on wider lenses.

Aliexpress is a marketplace. Just like the other sites available.

It really depends on the seller, but the platform is safe to use.

You can try ebay if you prefer to deal with US customer service for any potential issues.

ebay has decentralized (part of) its service, so if you buy on e.g. ebay.de you deal with DE (or at least EU-based) customer service. Same goes for other platforms.

Besides, there's more and more actual camera retailers selling Kase-stuff.

I don’t use Aliexpress often. It is not as slick as eBay but works and appears quite reliable.

Quite often it is the only way to get certain items and it can often be a much cheaper source.

not as slick but has way more items that eBay sellers don't list.

Just recently I found so many more adapters for Nikon Z that I can not find on evilBay. The policy is the same tho: if an item fails to be delivered or is not as described, they refund without drama :-)

I ordered more than 250 items from Aliexpress (but i am in Europe), i works well, a couple of items got lost but i got a refund. One thing to be aware of is shipping time, much longer than Ebay, up to one month. For photography 10+ adapters, eyepiece covers, leather case for my A7II, camera bag etc..

Yes, I expect some vignetting.

For now, I've ordered through eBay. It was the only 'local' site that I found, that had the item. It was a few $ more from eBay. I may buy a second set, if the first one turns out to be decent / usable, as I intend.

Ordered the item from eBay, primarily because it's going to take about 31 days or so to get here (US), vs ordering it from AliExpress, about 63 days. Both are coming from China.

Yes, the lead time is quite high for the US. This item in particular was 2+ months to arrive (estimate).
