Schotia brachypetala is called the drunken parrot tree because it has so much nectar that the nectar often ferments before the parrots can eat it all. The lorikeets get drunk on it.

The tree can grow to 20 meters but normally is around 10 meters.

Not seen the tree but have experienced the drunk feathered rats .

Beautiful color. Thanks for sharing.

great capture, outstanding color! very interesting tree!

this is a nice shot but would have loved to see a shot with a few parrots munching on those fruits ;-)

These rainbows are not eating from the tree but have recently done so 1Dx4me:

Shucks. I was expecting a bunch of parrots hanging upside down in some tree!

Beautiful shot nonetheless! I always like the things you post that I'd never see around where I live.

I would love to see the lorikeets after eating it. Not that I condone birds getting drunk, taking drugs, or prostituting themselves. 😁
