Hi,

I'm struggling to find advice about settings and wondered if anyone could help out. I downloaded the flash's manual but I have not found it very useful. Any hints or tips greatly appreciated.

TIA,

Thomas

On the R and RP the E-TTL2 auto mode would sometimes wildly over-expose, in those case I'd use -2EV EC on the camera. On the M, M6II and R5 I haven't seen such behaviour yet.

I tend to shoot at 1/200s (or 1/250s on the R5), F/11 and ISO100 when using the MT-24EX on the MP-E65mm and adjust FEC on the flash when needed, e.g. with black or reflective insects.

Thanks koenkooi. Sorry to say I've a few more questions now!

I'm using the 100mm macro IS lens, but I take it the same settings would apply. Would dialling the FEC down to minus 2 on the flash unit have the same effect, i.e., prevent over-exposure, as dialling down the EC on the camera? If I were to use Manual mode, could I set the power to, for example, a half and prevent over-exposing that way too?

Have you any idea why the 'ETTL' on the flash unit began to blink when I last used it? I took it to mean that the batteries were exhausted but could find no mention of this in the manual. I'm about to buy two sets of Ni-Mh batteries, so I should be OK with those in future.

Apologies if these are daft questions but it's a steep learning curve!

Cheers,

Thomas
