Masha, my friend, 2004 with a Panasonic Lumix FZ2.. untouched/unsharpened straight from the camera 2 megapixel jpeg (actually 1.9MP).

Ever since then I have had a healthy disrespect for large numbers!

Thank you.

Was with my first Bridge camera, the FZ2, which actually was just a firmware updated FZ1, so effectively the first of the Lumix Zoom range, now nearly twenty years old.

Really what made this camera shine was the outstanding Leica zoom lens, that also had continuous f/2.8.

Camera can now be picked up often for $20....

Very nice image (surely any serious cropping would be out of the question).. Gotta love the 50mp images..

Today, for me the perfect sweet point is 10 MP, lower than 5 MP needs compromises (but is workable), 8 MP is great and just about right. However I don't crop and definitely don't pixel peep. nor use any software...

Didn't some Nikon company guy back in 2000 state no consumer would ever need more than 2 MP? Somebody from one the big companies sure did say that back then I remember!

Everyone follows their own way in photography, if you are happy that's fine.. You have an uphill battle trying to convince the 30-50mp users that 10mp is sufficient.. I doubt you will ever climb that hill..... L

Not a hill that needs to be climbed. It is a personal choice. i have 20x30" prints from 5MP cameras. While I currently shoot with much more, there was a time when 5-10MP was certainly enough. It all depends on the user.

You'd have a better chance persuading them that fire won't burn them and water's not wet.
