Press OK (and maybe sometimes INFO as well) to get to the SCP, select file type and change to RAW. For other people I'll put the whole story here as it may help someone else who is unfamiliar with the camera. Thanks for the info Gary.Hopefully the attatched jpeg file, which I found irritating, will not appear again

Excellent post. When I started out I would have been very happy to stumble upon an explanation and advice like this.Press OK (and maybe sometimes INFO as well) to get to the SCP, select file type and change to RAW. When you get the SCP or LIve SCP...
Select item 14 and press OK, then choose raw only...
I found that shooting raw only (on my E-P5) gave me only the 3200x2400 highly compressed embedded jpeg that exists in the raw file, that image was insufficient to judge fine detail and focus in the result in-camera so I opted for raw+LNjpeg as a way of getting a better jpeg in-camera for reviewing the shot.
Storage is cheap so I keep the jpegs and the raw files and later may delete the camera jpegs as I do the raw file conversions at leisure. Meanwhile I have the OK quality LNjpeg for quick viewing and sharing.
Without wanting to start a brand-war, it's less advisable still with Panasonics - whose RAW files contain even smaller thumbnails.
