I had my A1+Tamron 150-500 out in the Florida sun today at the wetlands and it was 97 degrees and neither got hot to the touch but I certainly did. I can not imagine what could be going on with your camera body.
I have a somewhat similar experience with the A1. I shoot a lot of surfing in/out of the water and love 4k @120fps.
When using the A1 in a water housing I experience the Overheating message shutdown within 15 to 30 minutes. I am shooting many short clips 10-20 seconds and also shooting stills at 20fps in between. No issues with Overheating when shooting from the beach. I have an A9 and A7riii that I shoot video 1080 with no issues in the same housing.
I will try the Temp warning/shutdown adjustment as suggested above.
I read in a scuba diving photography forum today that others are seeing the same issues (with no solution) when shooting 4k @120fps
I have zero issues if I swim out and only shoot photos
Just following up your reply, this morning I went shooting for the first time on 4K S 120fps 28010-bit 422 and after 11 minutes of little short clips recorded I got the overheating message followed by a complete shutdown.
I'm thinking that at 120fps having the camera in the water housing (even though it was early in the morning with temperatures at 12 degrees) its a major plus for that to happen.
I got very worried but its good to find some answers about the same issue.
Emin sent me those images with the following text: I'm Photographer from New York https://www.facebook.com/emin.kuliyev.54/ I just mount a Portable Handheld 14$ Fan by rubber pieces and keep the temperature on Sony A1 cold till my camera battery died (I shoot 8K) it was a little bit warm on the...
I’m at a park in Orlando Fl. Temperature is 73 degrees and sunny. I’ve been walking around shooting 15 second videos with a átomos attached to it (boy recording externally) 4K HS 4:2:2. I noticed the camera popped up the high temperature symbol, so I went for a beer. lol
