In my Canon 7D mark II, when AF point selection button is pressed, the selection menu usually comes on screen. But it suddenly stopped coming to screen. Instead I have to use the top LCD and view finder to select AF area.

How do I get this menu to appear on screen when the AF point selection button is pressed?

Have you changed any settings that would cause your issue to happen?

Page 93 in the manual talks about AF points and mentions that by pressing the point selection button you can choose the point in the viewfinder. https://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0300016615/05/eos7d-mk2-im5-en.pdf

If you haven’t changed any settings and are still having this issue you could try resetting all of your camera settings and see if that fixes the issue.

If the previous suggestion resolved your issue, ignore this.

Going by what you said, highlighted above, it sounds like the display switched between the screen and viewfinder. Find the option to switch it back to the LCD screen. It is usually a display button somewhere near the viewfinder. Not sure of this specific model.
