I'm wondering if anyone has any experience of using a VR headset purely as a way to monitor live view? This would be for a Canon R5 and/or a 90D both of which have an HDMI output.

It would need to be very inexpensive!

Really, no one?

I thought the same thing Steve, but since it's a strange use AND I have no experience with the topic or nomenclature, I am struggling to find something.

I am honing in on Glyph AG101, discontinued, but they look like they would fit the bill. There was another thread here where someone also recommended the Glyph. I may try them, but I'd love to find a cheaper option.

I was out shooting the sunspots today and thought this would be great. Looking straight up into a bright sky is really difficult. Also my astro work would likely benefit.

Thanks for the bump. I haven't taken this any further, but still might if somebody can recommend an affordable headset which I can connect via HDMI.

I stumbled upon your post after searching for the same thing. I’ve been shooting in very bright conditions and think for various reasons a more immersive, totally dark viewing environment would benefit my end result.

Any luck since your original post?

There are multiple 2000+ NIT monitors for not much more than $200. They all have features like exposure, focus and some can even control your camera.

If that's not bright enough you can put a sunshade on the monitor.

No progress unfortunately. I confess I gave up quite quickly - phones/tablets and external monitors both work for remote viewing so there wasn't enough incentive I guess. But it's something I would still like to do.
