I saw this guy from afar - unfortunately I only had an 85mm lens on me. I find the shots funny so I wonder what a good upsizing program could do with them. Topaz Gigapixel, Adobe, On1 Resize, all welcome!

Creative edits / plays also welcome, if you feel like it.

Note: the two images below are simply exported from LR using the standard resizing options at a higher pixel count than the heavy crop of the original image.

ACDSee won't enlarge a raw file directly, so I batch converted them to Tiff and then enlarged to 200% once with the Bell algorithm, and then with ACDSee's proprietary ClearIQZ. No editing for aesthetics of any sort. I think I like the ClearIQZ version better.

Chamlion-1 ACDSee took about 1 minute per photo for Bell, and about 1:30 minutes for ClearIQZ

I don't know that I will be purchasing ANY special enlarging software or changing my workflow to accommodate some OTHER proprietary feature of some other product. ClearIQZ seems good enough for my uses.

I used DxO PhotoLab to develop them, then Topaz Gigapixel AI to enlarge them 4x, and finally Sharpen AI.

Comparing it to the smaller LR version:

DxO+Topaz vs LR

Comparing the four versions:

LR, Bell algorithm, and then with ACDSee's proprietary ClearIQZ, compared with PhotoLab, Gigapixel and Sharpen AI

ACR 13.2, Enhance Super-Resolution. Sent to Edit in Topaz AI Sharpen 3.0.1, "Focus" option.

That's an interesting challenge Cedric; thank you!

I've not been over ambitious, so I went with 2x. Uprezzed using Topaz Gigapixel AI from the raw file, which gave me some CA issues, but nothing insurmountable.

I did try the chap's face using all four of the Topaz Gigapixel AI models, and the MyHeritage Photo Enhancer, but none of them could recreate his face well enough IMO. So, I went to https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/ found a suitable face, and gave the lucky soul a head transplant ;)

Here's my version:

Cropped tighter to make the chamaeleon effect more noticeable. Head transplant donor via https://thispersondoesnotexist.com/

Topaz Gigapixel AI v5.4.5 - Standard model - 2x upscale.
