I bought an ML L3 remote way back for my D7000, and never had an issue.

Now trying to use it on my D610, it is not working consistently. Last night in testing it seemed to work but this morning, when I was taking long sunrise exposures it failed.

My friend who was with me mentioned she had similar problems with her D600, so she bought a third party wired remote.

Anyone else have issues with remotes?

I haven't checked to see whether it works for the D610 (it doesn't work for all models),

a) have you checked to make sure the battery in it, is still good.

b) maybe the switch mechanism is worn out.

I use mine a fair bit, and have had one wear out (it was a gradual thing, started working less and less, until it hardly worked at all, then the new one works great). I'm guessing that OEM will last longer than third party.

I've had the ML-L3 since my D70-D80 days, and now use it with a D7000 and D610. It has never failed to work, and I've never had occasion to replace its battery.

I replaced the battery.
