Hi guys, today i shot this picture. I liked the ''into the sunlight'' style of this photo. But with all of the shots taken this way you see a lot of horizontal white lines (mostly on the rider and head of the horse). Is this my camera malfunctioning or just pushing the camera to far by shooting straight into the sun? Never had this problem this much.

Photo is taken with a sony A7III and SONY FE 85 1.8 (RAW/JPEG, both show the lines, so no compression problem)

Thanks in advance!

Search for A7III PDAF stripes, it is well known. 85FE seems to be one lens more likely to bring it out with the flare.

Thank you for the responds. It should be possible to make a picture with solar flare right? It's strange that such a pricey camera gives this problem. Do you maybe know if the Zeis batis 85 also has this problem? I was thinking to change my sony for the batis. The chromatic abberation is also really high with the sony.

I had this same issue when I had the A7riii . I believe its a faulty mechanical shutter. If you use electronic shutter the issue goes away. I recommend sending it to Sony for repair.

I have shot this photo i silenced mode i guess,,, maybe that is the problem? I don't think its a camera fault by all the comments i read. Otherwise there should be alot of returns on the a7III?

Maybe the combo 85FE with silenced shutter produced this.

Doesn't have anything to do with the shutter. Read the article i linked. It is the pdaf sensor pattern. The only options you have are 1. Simply fix the RAW in post, shouldn't be a problem 2. Change the lens (gm for example has less problems) 3. Upgrade the body to a newer gen

No i thought so already, thanks. Upgrading the camera is no option, just got it for 1 year and its a great camera. Money doenst grow on trees sadly :( I am thinking to return the FE85 (bought it 2 days ago). If i can't shoot outside with direct sunlight (what i usually do), it's useless. Now i'm back to the GM/BATIS/Sony ART part again! GM is to pricey for me. Maybe the Sigma is the best option.
