Hi, I don't know for what problem but I can't install ACDSee anymore. I have tried the various versions. But nothing to do. I am looking for a similar software. Can you recommend one for me? I will use it ONLY AS A READER, but I look for it good and light. I only look at the photos I have in the folders, so a simple software is fine, but the most important thing is that in addition to opening the photos one by one, it allows you to look at all the thumbnails I have in the folder, on a page. That is, all the thumbnails on a page to be able to click on the ones I like and / or on the ones I want to delete, just by looking at the thumbnails. I hope I was clear. Thank you

+1 on that. Faststone is a wonderful program that even allows some basic editing. The price is right (free) but do help support it w a donation. It is well worth it.
Yes, that is exactly what I did when I first found it, many years ago, because this little program offered a lot more than what I expected from something freeware!

Maybe helpful to the OP, my main Faststone settings:

You posted your reply in your signature, that's why it doesn't show here.

A copy-paste job: "I'm trying FastStone Image Viewer now, I like a lot it but I hate one thing. It is impossible to see the a magnifying glass icon when you open a full screen image. I was used to ACDSee and that icon was wonderful. But maybe it is possibile to show it."

Works for me (the magnifying glass icon) in full screen view.

Wowwww, please, tell me how can I see that icon in full screen view. But I don't mean the mouse icon, i.e. the mouse arrow icon.
Maybe do I have to configure the settings?

Double click a thumbnail to get a full screen view. Click and hold in that full view to get a magnified view. The full screen view click-to-magnify is set up in Settings-Magnifier where you can select various shape and size magnified views or Full to fill the screen with the selected magnify ratio.

If in doubt roll the mouse the the bottom edge and the icon strip appears with the "1:1" icon. So here's the possibilities while in full screen view.... (all cropped somewhat from the screen)

Roll mouse to bottom edge for this set of icons, 1:1 is there.

Roll mouse to top edge and get thumbnails plus icons.

Roll mouse to right edge to get data.
Roll mouse to right edge to get data.

Roll mouse to left edge to get tools.
Roll mouse to left edge to get tools.

Mouse right-click to get menu

I hope some of that helps, great little program, I use it a lot.

...is fine for viewing. With recent Windows PCs, they have slideshow functionality too.

I use FastStone for editing. It's a good viewer too, but it superimposes filenames on the images, so it's not a "clean" view.

If you need something to view raw files, you may need to look elsewhere.

In full screen view I see a tiny magnifying glass that when rolled to the side etc becomes a normal arrow when in the side panel.

Go into Settings and explore the possibilities as I'm not quite sure what you are looking for.

Use Settings to turn that off.

Fine to view raw files, but there's way better for conversions, like DxO Photolab for $$$.

Not sure about this, Guy (... set up in Settings - Magnifier ...).

I could imagine it is mainly about two settings under 'Viewer', if this magnifier icon will show in full screen view:

1) Check the box 'Auto-Hide mouse cursor in Full screen'

and

2) under 'Mouse Click' it should say 'Magnifier and Zoom'

That is at least how it works for me; in full screen view, moving the mouse means moving a magnifying glass icon instead of a cursor, left click on mouse means the image will show magnified (by the factor set under Settings - Magnifier).

Yes, same for me despite trying a few settings. Maybe the OP complaint is about the actual magnifier icon being so thin and small, it may disappear to too small if on a 4K screen (don't know as only use 1920x1080 and 1920x1200 screens).

Though it's easy to see if you move the mouse.

Yes, that makes sense, 'maybe too small on a 4k screen'. My nice Dell IPS monitor is also 1920x1080, all I want and need.

Could it be your lost tribes weren't dressed 'properly'? ;-)

Better delete this whole signature nonsense, as all I can find when following your link is: "This account was terminated for violating YouTube's terms of service."

I thank you so much for your precious info. A last question please: Is it possible to remove those writings inside the miniatures ?

2 ways to do it on full screen mide:
  • Click the mouse key and hold it, it will enter 100% view,
  • Move the mouse to the bottom corner of the monitor will bring up a tiny magnification command PIP screen with 100%, 200% and 400% preset option as below:

Step 1: Red, Step 2: Green then hit the required magnification
