Just received word that today, Feb 1, my 150-400 has shipped from getolympus.com. My credit card has been charged and a FedEx tracking number issued. It is expected to arrive on Wednesday. Shipping was estimated in prior notice for Jan 28, so I consider this as basically on time given everything we're all going through.

Well, Glory Be! I am assuming that you ordered right at the outset, yes? Its great that you and other early adapters will get their lenses. Fingers crossed for those of us who tarried a few days before ordering.

Be sure to post some photos/reports/impressions right away!

yes, I ordered immediately, within a few minutes, after receiving the announcement from Olympus. I gulped, and pressed the button. I suspect they sold out within the first 24 hrs, and maybe even sooner. I promise to post photos asap, although I'm sure they won't do justice to the lens which will take some considerable practice to realize my mind's eye as an actual photo.

Excellent news! Hopefully some lenses will make it down under soon!

Well Joan that certainly is wonderful news and gives hope to those who ordered around the same time.

Just a photo of the lens, mounted on your camera of course, would do.

hi Joan,

congratulations. Its a fantastic lens and I am sure you will enjoy it. It takes some getting used to after using the 300/4 but couple of trips and you should be sorted.

have fun.

best regards

Girish

Hi Girish, thanks, I’ve enjoyed your photos with the lens. — Joan

My local store in Adelaide showed one that came in on FB but the next day when I wanted to go and see it, it was picked up by the owner already.
What is FB?
FaceBook
Of course. I phoned the large Perth camera store with whom I have my preorder but they have no further information from Olympus Australia. The salesman was mindful that I have paid (discounted price some weeks ago) and didn't spout the usual platitudes.

Woo Hoo!

Send a picture of the box when it has arrived. :)

I didn't place my order till 18th November so don't know if mine will be in the first batch.

Wow, congrats! Can't wait to get mine as well! My local dealer told me a mid-February time range.

I know it's just a piece of gear, but like some of you I've been waiting a LONG time for this moment. Now that the lenses are actually on the way, I'm almost in disbelief it's coming more or less on schedule after all that has happened in the past year. I've been looking forward to this lens since 2018 when it was first hinted at. My only regret was that it wasn't ready when I picked up the E-M1X. That said I'm really, really happy that Olympus team came through here. If it's half as good as the 300 F/4 then...wow.

I'm excited for those fortunate enough to own it and those interested in renting it on a trip or two down the road. I'm not sure when mine is coming, but a couple extra weeks feels like nothing at this point!

Me too! My local camera store now doesn't have an Olympus rep and their orders for Olympus gear now goes through a middleman company. Part of the Olympus restructuring done last year. So this might slow up my pre-order. I pre-ordered on the day of the announcement. So hopefully in a few weeks.
