What adapter do you use for M42 lenses and Z cameras?

Happy New Year!

I have a couple of M42 old lenses I tried to play with. I used them with some limitations on focus distance on a D5300 with M42 to F-mount adapter. Now I tried to put them on the Z6 via the FTZ and it turned out that again the camera focuses up to about 1m . Can I solve that issue? I hear people use their old lenses with mirrorless.

Another question connected to manual focusing is my camera has Highlight peak where the focus peaking should be according to the manual, d10 as far as I remember, not sure about the number actually. What can be the reason ot I don't understand something?

M42 needs a shorter flange focal distance than F mount. M42: 45.46mm; F mount 46.5mm, so mounting an M42 lens onto F mount will always result in inability to focus out to infinity - effectively a short extension tube has been inserted.

Using the M42 - F then FTZ means the problem of flange focal distance hasn't been resolved, hence the inability to focus correctly.

If you check this thread, you will see that the contributors have used M42 to Nikon Z adaptors, which then puts the M42 at the correct distance from the sensor, resulting in correct focus (and some excellent results).
