I bought a a7rIV from Amazon for will say 2700. I just got the camera it was listed as in Very Good condition. It arrived rolling around in the box no packing material in the box the eyecup fell off. Was out checking the camera works good so far the sensor has a lot of dust/dirt and I just checked the shutter clicks its reporting 15,315. Guess the question is was this a good deal or should it be sent back? I know 15000 clicks isn't horrible but for the price is it to many? That and being banged about for two/three days with UPS what could happen from that or would any damage arise immediately? Anything that should be looked at that might raise a flag for you? The sensor I can clean but is it worth the time?

What currency are you talking about? 2700 Rubles would be steal of the century. 2700 pounds sterling, not so much.

Just my opinion and nothing more. 2700.00 for an A7RIV poorly packed and with a dusty/dirty sensor would be a no go for me. Regardless of the shutter count. What is just as important, if not more important than the shutter count is how the camera was taken care of by the previous owner. Right now with the sales going on you can buy a brand new A7RIV for around 300.00 more. If it is returnable I would return it and either find another used one in better shape for less money or buy a new one. If it were me.

My neice in college was kind enough to purchase a brand new A7RIV using the Sony EDU discount for me at $2498 about a month ago. I, of course, reimbursed her.

Buy used one on Fred Miranda from a reputable seller for that amount. If you know someone that works for a college you can get an EDU deal from B&H brand new for $2450.
I agree too. Here is one over at FM Forum with a very low shutter count and like new for 2500.00.

I agree 100% with this. A nice used one with original accessories and packing will go for around $2500. I would not keep a camera that was shown no care in even the packing.

Agree but you should have worked this all out with the seller before jumping in. Always ask for the shutter count and packing condition and what was the reviews of the seller where ever you bought it. This looks a little like 20-20 hindsight.

It was from the Amazon Warehouse was assuming it would have been a customer return, Not sure who you can get 15000 pictures in 30 days ...

How do you get this discount? Do you send something in to Sony or is it through individual stores?

I guess I would have to do some homework to understand buying a camera through them. The only places I buy used gear, and I do , is on targeted photo forums where sales are peer to peer where sellers have been reviewed or from a company like KEH or B&H that warranty used gear and rate its usage.

It has gone up a little but it is still a good deal in my opinion:

I agree. Return the one from Amazon and find one on FM (they’re always sold there).

I hate to pile on but............$2700 for a used camera when a brand new one can be bought anywhere for $2998 with full warranty..The shutter count is nothing for these cameras but buying one used like that, and in the condition you cited, I wouldn't pay more than $2000...... No deal.

It's just my educated opinion. Don't get bent out of shape.

I bought my A7rII and rIV as well as several lenses from this place brand new and have never had a problem:

Cheers

I've never had to make a warranty claim, so I don't know how that would work.
