Please talk me out of this !!!

Filter: B+W 49mm XS-Pro Digital 010 UV-Haze MRC Nano Filter

I presume you are getting the wide conversion lens?. I have it also - very good lens with 21mm FOV. Plenty of good reviews of this lens. I don’t think you will be disappointed.

No, if I understood correctly, he's getting the adapter, not the conversion lens.

To the OP : I bought exactly the same combo for my GR 2, no regrets whatsoever. Do it, you'll have more peace of mind.

I have a curious kid who can switch on the camera and holds it in a way that her little finger rests on the lens !!!

Yup, Just the adapter and the filter. I basically want to kid proof it. The camera stays on my desk so that I can keep snapping some candid family pics. That means camera gets some attention from kids too. They manage to even poke finger into the closed camera shutter !!

Fair enough, sounds like a good idea. I stopped using my filter a while back. Decided I could live without it. No dust so far that i've noticed either.

Did it become too clumsy/big with adapter and filter?

It became un-pocketable, which for me was a small price to pay for the great protection from dust and to the lens. If you aren't exposed to dust regularly, this might not be worth the added size to you, it's all dependent on one's specific needs and circumstances.

Not really, I never carry it in a pocket anyway. Always have it in a small camera bag. I have the lens hood permanently on, just don’t use the filter as I want to maximise image quality.

Can you share a pic of your bag? Is it carry on belt pouch?

Do a web search for GR lens cap. I have one on my GR11.

Do a web search for lens cap for GR 11. Also fits GR111.

An a adapter will make it less compact.
