Just ordered one. Great price and a 1 year warranty.

The refurb RF 70-200mm f/2.8L was also available this morning, but that appears to have sold out quickly.

Thanks, just ordered one too. I was not sure, but the price looked too good to pass up.

Same here. Even if you change your mind, you can probably sell it for more than what you paid for it.

That may be true but I have never sold a lens.

Frankly, I was very happy with the 24-240 on my RP was and going to use my new RF50 f1.8 to fill-in for my low-light lens. But it would be nice to have a really good lens in the mid-range.

I'm backordered at BHPhoto on the RF15-35 f2.8 which is the lens I think I will use most often. I shoot a lot indoors where I want width. I have a backordered RF85F2 at BH which I am going to cancel if I can (it may have just gotten in stock) due to getting the 24-70 f2.8L.

I'm planning on getting a better camera eventually (in 2021) to match up with the good lenses. But I was having a good time with the RP and the 24-240.

My order was cancelled about 7 hrs after it was placed (on Saturday, 12/12). I would like to know if any of your orders came through! Thx!

Yikes!!!

I just read the fine print in the email. It says I will be informed when the order is "confirmed" suggesting that it might not be confirmed. They need to get a better handle on their inventory if they don't want to make customers angry.

From Canon (with my bold emphasis):

-----------------------------------------------------------------

We appreciate your business and we look forward to providing you with the same high level of customer service and support you have come to expect from Canon.

Your order number XXXXXXX has been received.

Once your order has been confirmed and ships from our warehouse, you will receive another e-mail with shipment and tracking information.

I had the exact same for an RF 24-104mm f4L. I contacted Canon customer service, and was told that it was back ordered, even though it was still listed as "In Stock" the day after I place my order.

We will have to wait and see if the lenses we ordered shipped or there was a stocking amount error.

I did the 2 business days shipping so hopefully, I will know soon.

The Canon Direct Refurbish stocking continues to Yo-Yo. I will be curious to see if my 24-70 ships today.

I understand I am not the first to get Canon Direct's conflicting messages on a purchase.

I ordered the RF 24-70f2.8L yesterday. Today it shows the lens as "In Stock" on the website, but when I check my order status it is "back-ordered."

To be charitable, maybe this means that they expect to have more lenses soon, but there should be a better way to communicate this status. They should make it clear you are getting in a waiting line for something that is not really "in stock."

And I can't find a way to cancel the order on the website so that I can order the lens elsewhere. Calling Canon support.

Just a follow-up. I talked with Canon support and they acknowledged that the website for listing refurbished lenses is not updated in real time.

My lens showed in stock when I ordered but now shows backordered. He said that they had no way of knowing when they would have more refurbished lenses but it "could be weeks or months." I cancelled my order with no problem.

Ordered one of these on Saturday; my email also said it was not yet confirmed

Realized it might come while we were out of town

Called to change shipping to overnight (at a holiday reduced price of $26), on hold for just over an hour, was told the order had already been sent "to the warehouse" so all I could do was cancel the order, which the very nice customer service rep did for me

Went back in, placed a second order with fast shipping around noon on Saturday - total with shipping and tax was $1950 (we have high 9.25% sales tax)

It shipped Monday, just got it at 11 am local time today (Tues.)

As usual, in a Vixia box, includes hood and bag, absolutely pristine condition

Already like it better than my 24-105 f4 L - better color and IQ, not noticeably heavier, and with my R5 I'll crop to get the 71-105 range :-)

Oh, it also focuses closer than I realized - down to about a foot @ 70mm and much closer at the wider end

Focus is insta-frickin-taneous, bokeh is gorgeous

Sorry others have had complications, could not be happier here - may sell the 24-105 L

I was waiting for a refurbished RF 24-70 to use with a friends employee discount but ended up getting one on a forum for a barely used/semi-new for $1850 shipped.

$1900-1750 seems to be the going rate for the RF 24-70 (with the retail packaging). Since refurbs don't come with retail packaging, you may get in the lower price range. So you won't be making much if you resell back out. You're probably breaking even or losing a few bucks depending how you and the buyer handle the fee and shipping costs.

As long as I'm back ordered, not canceled, I can wait (barely). I have enough adapted EF and manual focus lenses to keep me occupied until it arrives. Still got the 15%.

I'm the same, It was not an absolute necessity to me. If I don't get it, it is not the end of the world. I'm more or less buying lenses to go with a future camera (R6, RP_Plus, or other). Otherwise, it would be kind of silly to buy $2,000+ lenses for an RP body that I paid about $700.

BTW, the web site seems to be a mess with crashing links and error messages. I have tried both Chrome and Firefox and both have problems.

Like you I feel there are two core lenses which you should get in the RF family and they are the 15-35 and 24-70mm. I use the 15-35 mm the most during the past 14 months since getting them for the EOS R which outperformed my early expections. I have wide and norma f2.8 zoom in the EF mount but the RF mount is better. How much that is worth differs with the camera owner. I can just say both of these RF lenses are better than my EF by a little here and there and I am glad I spent list price from Canon to get them when I did.

Unfortuneately, for me lacking disicipline the RF mount bodies are acting like potatos chips. I could not eat just one. I have now both the EOS R and the R5 which for me is clearly the best camera I have every owned and a major successful upgrade from the EOS 5DIV which love but it is getting longer in tooth in comparison each day I learn more of the details on how to use the R5 in what I shoot.

And why would it be silly to buy a $2000 lens for a $700 camera body? Lenses are an investment that you keep longer than your camera.

If the lens is something I plan on buying in the near future and its on sale, I may as well jump on it. But of course, they'll be sales down the road but who knows when.

I'm wondering if Canon has shipped any of the Refurbed RF 24-70mm f2.8. I ordered on Sunday and it is now showing "back ordered."

I'm curious about what to expect with being on Canon's refurbished back order status. I'm hoping that they expect to get more lenses. I'm not in a great rush, but hope they don't just cancel the order. It is more about uncertainty.

In other news, BHPhoto just shipped my (new) RF15-35 f2.8L IS. So I will have a new toy to play with while I wait. This lens was ordered 3 weeks ago and just shipped today.
