until 4/2. Does yours show that also?

What was the serial number for your 1D? I've heard the 1D's are
coming out in the 20XXXs. Also, did it come with the latest
firmware? I ordered mine today and should get it early next week
too!

I use Macs and I buy stuff from Dell (not computers though) if they give me a better price. I don't care who I buy stuff from, if its identical. Dealing with Dell isn't always the greatest thing either but you get what you pay for.

Dell is getting away from computers and are now selling digital cameras, pdas and printers because they are more profitable. They aren't making enough off the computers, so they are expanding into these other areas.

Just look for them to become the "walmart" of the internet for these things.

My guess is that Canon is blowing out these cameras thru Dell; I don't think Dell is losing money on them, so Canon must be behind this "deal".

I would gather the sales on 1D's went down a bit when they came out with the 10D, and Canon has a bit of excess inventory.

The 1D is so much better though, but most people don't realize that.

It is really weird. One day I check my order and it says that it is in production and later that day I check it and it says that it is delayed till the first. It changes a few times a day. Anyone else notice this?

However, I just a few minutes ago received mine delivered via Airborne Express. Exactly as advertised, brand new 1D, USA, 21,xxx serial number. If anyone else is still wondering whether this deal is for real, it IS! (but it might be too late if you haven't ordered already)

On the other hand, everyone may have already received theirs and is out taking photographs- who would choose to sit in front of a computer if they have a new 1D and can be out using it...

Guess what? I got the little puppy this morning and the battery is charging as I write this. Thanks a bunch.

I got the 1D on friday. Got over the fun of shooting rapid fire. Shot some pics at a concert on sunday with it and my 10d. All I can say is wow. I had never shot a concert in low light or anything like that just weddings. The band was jumping around and the crowd was moshing(I think that's what they call it ) looked like a riot. It was great. I can't believe how these cameras performed. I shot pics at 1600 and 3200. I told the band that hired me that they could see the pics I took with the 10D on the screen after the show.I used flash with it and figured they would be pretty good. Shot with a 24-85. I used my 50 1.8 on the 1D with no flash . I thought they would need some post work before they see them. At least a little fred's fix. I was impressed. Hopefully I can show some of them soon. They hired me for web photography so I can't put them on my site to post here until I get paid. I don't want them going to my site and downloading them before paying for them. I shot 221 pics total with both cams and I can say I had a blast. I also got some great pics.

Since you own both cameras, how does the image quality/noise/color accuracy of the 1D compare to your 10D? I am very tempted to move up to the 1D with the new unbelievable pricing. My concern is that while I'll be gaining better build and speed, I'd be giving away some image quality. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

I got these two cameras for different reasons and possibly different uses than other people might. I also have a D60 and an oly E10. I got the 1D for speed . I will be doing some sports photos namely at this time horse jumping. I couldn't see getting the frame rate out of the 10D or D60 that I was looking for. Before I get bashed, Yes, great shots like what I want to get could be done with these camera. Just not as easily i'm sure. Also I hadn't really planned on getting them both at this time. I just couldn't pass up the price of the 1D. I had planned on waiting this summer for it and was going to use the 10d to keep me busy. I am booking a fare # of weddings also and you have to have backups at weddings. You can't say wait I'm having problems with the camera , can we come back next week. I am planning on using the 1D for the processional and most of the shots at the reception maybe too and using the 10D for the formals so that I will have the larger files for the photos that most people get enlargements done of. The truth is I have gotten large prints from my oly E10 which is 4mp. and I don't know the size of the pixels but canon says the 1D pixels are 12 times the size of most prosumer or consumer cameras. So I am guessing that it will be fine. I have checked with the lab and I should be able to get perfect prints up to 16x20 with out pushing anything. I haven't tried it yet. I could use gf or something like it and get the 20x24 and 20x30 probably if it's shot just right and doesn't need cropped.This weekend I shot with them both but in different ways so I can't compare. I used them for a band at a concert they had. I shot close. (I was on stage and just off) I used the 1D at ISO 1600 and 3200 and the same on the 10D but used the built in flash. 1D had a 50 1.8 , and the 10D had a 24-85. Both worked great in my opinion. I was impressed. I thought it would take a lot of work in ps to get them fixed. The manager loved them and the band said they want them all for there site. 221 pics.I have other reasons and uses for these in which I will use them but I don't think anyone really wants to hear them. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. Just depends on what you want to shoot and what you need it for. Sorry so long.
