I was just preparing to start a thread regarding best price on a 1D from reputable dealer. I am ready to purchase. Before posting, I searched and found that a couple people bought through Dell small business peripherals in the last few weeks for $2999.

I just called the recommended sales rep, and got the price with free next day shipping. Dell small business is available to individuals, but they do collect local and state sales tax. So my price was $2999. plus local tax. Dell home advertises the 1D for $3999. minus 10% with free shipping. In NY state, they don't charge sales tax. Anyhow I'm very psyched at finally ordering my new 1D.

The sales rep is Leon at 800-456-3355 Ext 40141, and then Ext. 5772.

Ps Unlike some people on this forum, I've ordered a ton of stuff from Dell and never have had a problem or mis-representation. Moreover, they offer a 30 day return for full price satisfaction guarantee.

To all Dell naysayers, Dell have been selling D60, 10D, and 1D at prices no other vendor can beat. Yes, their inventory system sucks, yes, they're not camera shop, but... they offer terrific deals and they do deliver.

The problems occur when LOTS of people flock to Dell/Gateway, and order more than they have in stock.

If a few folks per day had ordered the 10D, things would've been quite different, I'm sure.

Do a search on the forum for recent Dell 1D posts. I seem to remember reading that someone got a boxed 1D camera body shipped to them from Dell and not the full 1D kit.

29 lbs. of Canon stuff in a backpack that I carry everywhere. A closet full of things that are banned in Britain. A minivan and a Fender Stratocaster. A three bedroom ranch with three owls on an acre. An aversion to rumours. Also, absolutely no Canon 1200mm f/5.6. Yet.
 
Sorry for that confusion; home division has 10% off of $3999., making the 1D from them $3600. free shipping and in most states, no tax.

Small business division reps (ie Leon) was able to give me a whopping 25% off with free shipping, hence $2999. Only down side is that small business always charges local and state tax.

I did the same thing a few weeks ago. 2999 and that is for a complete US kit. I actually had probelms with the 1st camera (bad battery and pixel), they sent another the next day and that one had problems as well. They then sent a 3rd which is fine. I then sent the other two back on their cost. Their customer service was excellent and you get the camera for quite a bit cheaper than anywhere else. Mine came to 3200 with tax and shipping. Not a bad deal.

Leon was a great guy, and had no problem immediately honoring the price. After tax in Denver, my total is $3109.96

This is quite the deal, thats for sure. Leon even said he still had them in stock. He also said that he has sold 30 of them so far today. He knew his name was on the forum and he was loving the advertising. His supervisor came to him earlier to find out what was going on and then gave him his full support. They evidently like the revenue.

The weird thing is I was trying to order one the other day, a day after my stackable emailed 10% off coupon had expired, and I could not get Dell to budge on honoring it. They said that at 20% off MSRP they were below cost. Go figure.

Thanks a bunch..:)...Leon is a great guy and very helpful. Eventhough I love my D60, the 1D has been the flagship. Wow a digital 1V. My price after tax was 3109. I think I was number 26 on the day. Outstanding. It ships today and free 2 day shipping. I couldn't be more pleased. I really thought I was going to have to wait a year or 2. Now I will only have to wait until Friday!! WoooHooo

NOW YOU GUY WENT AND DONE IT! I just got back from the local camera shop with a 10d. and got on here to check out what's going on and now I just bought a 1d from Dell.I couldn't pass up the price especially with all the praise on here from all the owners. I don't think I have heard one of them saying they were looking to upgrade to anything. what the hell am I going to do with 4 digital cameras. I guess I better go out and make some money with them that's what. I don't know how this happend. But it's fun. I can't wait to get it , I guess I will have to play with these old junky D60(1 1/2 month old) and 10D (2hours old) for a while. I did need backups for wedding work and I am going to hopefully be doing some events this summer where I may be using more than one camera and photographer. Now who's the eos junky. I needed some cameras that could hook up to tv's so that they could see there pics. Much easier than looking on 2 inch screen. Thanks for all the input from the forum. I am sure I will be happy with what I am going to be getting because I pretty much know what I'm getting because of you guys and gals ... thanks.

I dealt with Leon - I was number 34 for the day (though it was 5 am in India where Leon is). He said they still have more in stock, and the special will last 'for a few more days'.

How are you sure you are dealing with Dell and not imposter. Don't take this the wrong way, I am very interested in getting a 1D for $3K but want to be sure it is legit. Can you post the URL where you found this?
