Hi guys,

Android user here, currently using a pixel 3 xl. I have been wanting to upgrade but the pixel 5 provided no hardware improvements whereas the iPhone 12 pro max had lauded hardware changes via the main camera and the sensor.

I bought the iPhone 12 pro max and after playing with it for 1-2 days, I'm quite disappointed. The colors are so saturated. All my subjects have an extra yellow tint. Am I doing something wrong? What is the best app in ios for a photographer enthusiast?

Makes me think about sending it back and getting the pixel 5, bit I can't seem to find any good professional photographers review of the two. Any thoughts ?

Yes GSMArena were not that impressed with iPhone 12 pro which has same processing as max, and have seen an article bemoaning the older tech camera wise in Pixel 5 saying that is relying on computational stuff to make up for the lack of newer hardware. If you shoot raw i think the iPhone is a better bet, but if you are shooting SOOC jpegs you need to look at other OEMs

The Iphone 12 Max has a short tele (65mm) which can be useful whereas Pixel do not. But from the many reviews I have seem Iphone 12 does over saturates a bit.
Another choice is Samsung (which also over saturates a bit), or OnePlus 8 Pro. Both has a bigger sensor than the Iphone 12 max and a longer tele.

You can check out the review here, there is some image comparison with the Iphone 11

Return the 12 Pro Max and buy the S21 Ultra in another 2-3 months. For family and kids, telephoto with autofocus tracking is a must.

The S21 Ultra main camera will feature an improved 108MP sensor, the second generation version of the sensor Samsung uses in the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note20 Ultra. The S21 Ultra will have the same 12MP ultrawide as the Galaxy S21 and S21+, but will feature two telephoto sensors: a 3x optical telephoto and a 10x optical "super" telephoto. Samsung has added 130% larger pixels and dual pixel auto focus on both the 3x and 10x optical lens.

Dual-pixel autofocus with larger sensor on the 3x zoom and 10x zoom is gamechanger

Most smartphone has weak tracking, weak sensor and lens setup for the telephoto zoom, for example 1/3.4" sensor with aperture F2.4.

S21 Ultra will finally changes that. iPhone 12 Pro Max 65mm telephoto can't compare at all. And Pixel 5 with no telephoto, that is a huge shame.

Try to cancel the Smart Hdr,I do not have an iPhone but from a review I saw on YouTube it seems much more natural.

I looked at the spec of the OnePlus in detail and the camera sensors are quite a bit better than the Iphone max. You get Oneplus 1/1.43" vs Iphone 1/1.7" for the main and 1/2" vs 1/3.6" for the ultrawide. And there is no autofocus in the Iphone Max ultrawide. The OnePlus should have quite a bit better quality for the ultrawide than the Iphone max.
