Hi,

is there a hack or a way available to override the 30 mins live view timeout. i use my nikon d3400 for streaming but i'm almost tired of having to reset the timer every 30 mins or the camera getting over heated when putting a piece of plastic on the button. can someone please tell me if there's any hack or hack in progress or any idea how to overcome this?

thanks

Unless someone chimes in with one, I suspect the answer is that you're struggling by trying to use the wrong camera for the job. If you make money doing streaming, it's gonna be worth your while by a mile to get a camera that's better at what you are doing.

The D3400 still has the accessory socket. So I’m using a little hack in that socket for my D3300. The D3300 doesn’t overheat running with hdmi video out.

I posted this a while back. Good luck. https://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/64384618

The d3400 doesn't have an accessory input on it which means it doesn't take remote shutter like the d3300 i already tried your method but the usb input doesn't provide control.

thanks

Ah, my apologies. I thought it was only on the D3500 that Nikon ‘upgraded’ the line by taking away that feature but, yes, it went on the D3400. I now recall it is why I stuck with the D3300 because I use it mainly for camera trapping and the socket is essential for that.

Unfortunately I think there is, consequently, no easy hack for models later than the D3300. I can only suggest you sell the D3400 and use that to fund an upgrade to the D3300! Lateral solution I know but very doable. (The later kits of the D3300 were also shipped with the AF-P version of the kit lens which is better than the original AF-S.)
