R5 - External Recording Atomos Ninja Flame trouble

So I've got an atomos Ninja Flame, and I can't get it to pick up the input from the R5 as 4k. It only gives me 1080p 50FPS with no options to change it. I can pick up 4k 25fps with my Sony a7sii fine.

Do I have to hope that Atomos releases a compatibility update or something? It would mainly be an advantage for its storage capacity. I know i can record 10bit internally fine with the camera.

I was hoping this wouldn't be the case with our older Ninja Flames but after your testing it seems the Flame isn't suited for the R5. I could be wrong but I don't think they'll update the firmware for the older Ninja Flame. The last update for the Flame was back in July 2018 to version 7.2. The newer models like the Ninja V and Shogun 7 should work fine, I'd imagine, and will probably get firmware updates. Again, that's just a guess on my part.
