Just an FYI, but the Street Edition is now shipping in the U.S. Mine arrived here in Florida after being overnighted by my long time friends at Popflash Photo in CA.

I posted a quick photo of the camera on my Instagram feed and will upload more views of the camera and the accessories as soon as I can.

Cheers,

Ned

Congratulations on the acquisition. I hope it compels some great images.

I bought it primarily to keep my GR Green Limited Edition company.

I’ll still use my standard GRIII probably 90% of the time.
The GR Green Limited Edition is probably the most special of all those limited editions. It is just so beautifully ugly. I have been watching for some time one unused copy that is for sale in an online store. Unfortunately, my financial situation is not so good that I could justify the purchase. However, my Street Edition Special Limited Kit will arrive tomorrow and you could say that I am somewhat excited. I preordered my copy from the Ricoh European Store.

Feeling super jealous.

The GR green limited edition is actually much nicer in person than any of the photos I’ve seen. Plus the tactile feedback from the polished wood grip is surprisingly very nice. Not slippery at all and it makes the camera feel very solid.

Enjoy your GRIII SE!

My Special Limited Kit arrived today. The package did not contain any surprises because I have watched Samuel Lintaro Hopf’s and Kaiman Wong’s unboxing videos in Youtube. For those of you who do not know, the kit includes the following accessories in Europe: a customized GV-2 viewfinder, an extra DB-110 battery, a customized GS-2 strap, and an extra ring cap. The kit costs 1199 euros in Europe. I think it is a fairly good deal because if you buy all those (uncustomized) accessories separately, the price would be well over 1200 euros (at least where I live).

I used to own a Ricoh GR III earlier but I sold it and regretted it. When I saw the news about the special model, I instantly decided to preorder it. My intention is to use the camera regularly, not just keep it on the shelf on display. I am very aware of the various issues related to the GR III. To prevent the dust problem, I originally planned to use the camera with a GA-1 adapter and a protective filter all the time. Now, however, I have decided to live dangerously and use the adapter only in places where there is a lot of dust. The special model is so nice looking and compact so it is a shame to cripple it. The camera has a two-year warranty so I can always send it to be cleaned.

The GR III feels surprisingly warm in my hand even after a short time of use. Because the camera is apparently designed to use at shoulder or waist level, I hope the GR IV will include a tilting LCD screen. It would also be nice if the next version could produce TIFF images since I like to process my RAW pictures in the camera before I transfer them to Lightroom Mobile for minor fine tuning. All in all, except for some small technical issues, I am quite happy to the GR III in general and the features it is already including. The special model does not really change anything but makes the camera a bit nicer to look at.

Congratulations on your purchase. I’m surprised the kit doesn’t include a case as this one is the best way to prevent dust issues. Whatever you do don’t keep it in a pocket.

I'd cover the speaker holes, too, since this can be done unobtrusively and apparently it's a significant entry point for dust, according to one disassembler on this forum—unless you do a lot of video and need to hear the speaker on playback. I can barely hear mine anyway, so usually never bother to listen.

GR III in a GC-10 soft case. I will keep the camera in this case to prevent dust getting inside it. The only unfortunate thing is that I have to remove the viewfinder before I put the camera in the case.

GR III with a GA-1 lens adapter and an Olympus IS/L Lens A-200 H.Q. 1.5X teleconverter with a 49mm thread. I use the combination if I ever need a slightly longer focal length. The converter vignettes badly if I use it without 35mm or 50mm digital crop modes. This is a quite useful way to have a (35mm equivalent) 50mm focal length and still have 15 megapixels.

Nice. Very nice.

I always wondered regarding how to be sure where the focus is while looking through the optical viewfinder.

There are (at least) two methods. You can either use Select AF focusing, keep the focus point in the middle, and watch for when the status lamp goes green, or you can just use zone (snap) focusing. Most of the time, I operate the camera using the snap focusing technique that is both fast and fun.
