Post 'em if you've got 'em :)

Man these shots are tough to get, we all want one, don't we, that black and white crosswalk shot. This is the first I've been happy with to post since 2014 lol. I strive for slightly better and will keep on keeping on

In the crosswalk shot I (and some others) are usually trying to get elements to match up with the X-walk so is usually done black and white and one hopes to catch clothes with stripes, or other strong B&W contrasts on the X-walk.

Here are 3 failed attempts and a travel memory shot (thus just SOOC JPEGs)

1. Would not walk in the middle off the Crosswalk! So didn't bother converting to B&W

Would have been perfect B&W but likewise he didn't 'walk the right way' for me :P

Just a bit busy and chaotic, nothing really gelling together but okay travel memory shot to show people built up downtown Seoul

An 'almost ran' if you're interested, also notice the zone focus haziness, i went back to AF quite fast after two days ;)

Agreed, B&W often works to highlight the geometry and de-emphasise other elements. Getting people to walk "the right way" is a challenge. Here is another way around that...

Hey 4g64 what do you do in Korea? I was a teacher there for almost 9 years. I have street shots from all over Seoul but none from Hongdae. The word Hongdae to me = 'hangover' ha ha.

I wonder if the little coin video arcade near the entrance to the Hyundai department store near Sincheon subway station dept store is still there? I used to play there a lot :D

Too many memories haha

cheers

I'm a contractor. Korea was actually my first duty station when I was on active duty in the Army. Lots of great memories for me as well. Never thought I'd actually come back here as a contractor. :-D

Wow, 9 years. Any plans on coming back? Hongdae is actually close to Honggik University. There's plenty of local shops and a good area for street photography.

Heh heh I've spent more time in Hongdae than most Koreans ;)

Ever been to 'Norae Bar' as it is know in Korean or just 'The Bar' to expats? It's in Sincheon nearby Hongdae in the nightlife block near Yeonsei University and the drinks are good and cheap and the barman and DJ will play any song you request and is one of the few places where Koreans and foriegners really mix. All around there you'll get great BBQ for like 5K won :)

Yeah I always return, I fly over for two week trip every two years or so to stay with friends in Seoul and Busan.

All my shots in this thread bar the Op were in Seoul.

I've only been to Hongdae a couple of times. I've never been to a Norae Bar, however I've been to a Noraebang (Korean Style Karaoke). It's a lot of fun because they let you rent a room with a karaoke machine and you can bring your own food and drinks and sing.

I've been to Busan as well. Really nice city.
