Good Morning Folks:

I have an Epson SureColor P5000 printer that will not allow me to print images from my Apple computer using Lightroom CC or Photoshop CC. The printer itself works, as I can print out a nozzle check. But there is an obvious conflict between Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC on one hand and the printer's software on the other. When I try to print an image from the computer using cut sheets, the LCD screen on the printer tells me that I am out of paper and to load roll paper. Although the SureColor P5000 can use roll paper (as my previous Epson Stylus Pro 4800 and 4880 units did), I prefer to use cut sheets, not roll paper. Please note that the OS on my Apple computer is up to date (Catalina 15.12.2), as is my Lightroom CC and Photoshop CC software.

Does anyone have any thoughts about what, if anything I can do to solve this problem? Have any of you had the same or a similar experience? And if any of you have had the same or a similar experience, were you able to solve the problem, and if so, how? Any help that you can provide will be deeply appreciated.

Very Best Regards,

Roman:-)

I am using a P5000 and have had similar problems where, out of the blue it seems, the printer reports that roll paper is loaded and incompatible with the job at hand. I seem to somehow solve the problem but I can't say exactly how. I believe I have successfully turned the printer off and then back on (sometimes).

Also, I don't know where the fault lies, but frequently the printer reverts to previous paper types and icc profile assignments. Seems it can't remember ****.

i wish i could help however i have never had that experience. the only time i have an issue is user error when i review the choices available via the driver, like accidentally selecting a roll paper type when I want to use cut sheet etc. Just to be safe, I assume you have current driver and current firmware?

Was thinking same thing. Just yesterday Canon printer kept giving error codes until I finally realized the flashing light sequence indicated the loaded paper size did not match the default selection made on page layout.

Dear Richard, Tryg, Sportmaster, Charles & egk4260:

Thank all of you for your responses to my post.

In reply, please note the following:

(A) Richard, I have done hard resets on the printer (i.e., turning the printer on and back on as well as disconnecting the printer from a power source and reconnecting the printer to a power source). This did not resolve the problem. And before attempting to make any print, the setting for paper on the printer and on the computer has been checked and the paper settings on both are the same.

(B) Tryg , all software and firmware is current.

(C) Sportmaster, Charles & egk4260, I have installed the most current update for Epson Print Layout. Application of Epson Print Layout has been unproductive.

(D) I have contacted the help lines/desks for both Adobe and Epson, and none of the technicians at either place has been able to help me resolve the problem that I have encountered.

If anyone has any further suggestions or experiences that you believe may be fruitful, please be kind enough to share them with me.

Very Best Regards,

Have you tried removing and reinstalling printer drivers?

Dear Sportmaster 1:

Again, allow me to thank you for your help.

"Yes," I uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. Later today (Monday, 05/04/2020) I will do so again; and I will call Epson's dedicated help line for the SureColor P5000 to again try to resolve this problem. Further, I have ordered entirely new Epson print paper from B&H Photovideo, which should be delivered late today.

Although the problem with my Epson SureColor P5000 is frustrating, it is not "mission impossible." One way or the other this problem will be resolved and I will be able to make prints of my images. I will simply have to persevere.

Have a great day.

Very Best Regards,

Problem solved.

The problem was the result of not specifically identifying the paper size on which a print was to be made. The paper size I was using for test prints was letter size; but the printer responds to the sizing of "letter size sheet." Since obtaining this awareness of and sensitivity of the SureColor P5000 to paper size designations, it has worked like a charm.

Have a great day.
