I have this lens which I am using on my Olympus bodies. I like it's size, handling and the results I get from it. I have a Olympus E-PL8 which I use as a "always with me camera" but the lack of viewfinder results in not being able compose or choose focus points, due to glare from the sun when using the LCD. I think the Panasonic GX9 is the smallest current body with a viewfinder, closely followed by the Olympus E-M 10 mk3,

So the question is does the 7-14 f4 on the GX9 suffer from the deadly purple flare that afflicts this lens on the Olympus bodies.

It only happens on Olympus bodies which has a weaker UV filter stack on the sensor.

7~14 f/4 is perfectly ok on all of my Panny bodies. I suppose it should be the same for GX9 too.

The 7-14/f4 works well on my GX85 which is the older brother to the GX9. No purple blobs. So I'd be quite certain that it will work well for you on the GX9.

According to David Thorpe and other reviewers the purple flare as you put it is corrected in-camera and that feature has been carried forward in newer bodies as the 7-14 is still a current model. I know there was no evidence of it on my G85 when I tested the lens last summer.

No problem with Panny cameras.
Only on Olympus.
Good luck.

I happen to have that lens mounted on my GX9 at this moment, I have never seen purple flare with it.

I did get a little green flare with it with the sun in the frame. This is probably a worst case.
