Nearly perfect

I was skeptical about this kit zoom lens coming from a world of primes of Fuji including the Mighty 16 f1.4 but frankly this lens is sharper than any Fuji lens i had and I am talking wide open too from 24 to 70mm.

Bokeh is nice above 50mm, the bokeh balls are surprisingly pretty good with low to non existent onion rings.

No CA in my photos until now!!

Its only negatives are of course the f4 limitation for low light and vignetting.

This is a great lens for landscape,travel and street, even portrait at 50 to 70mm.

+Very sharp even VS Fuji primes (23 f2 and 16 f1,4)

+No CA

+Good range from 24 to 70mm (16-50mm apsc)

+Relatively compact and not too heavy

+Very good resistance to flares

+Nice bokeh balls at 70mm

-Vignetting (but fixable in LR or C1)

-Need to boost ISO for low light and moving subjects

Agree 100%. Edge to edge sharpness is excellent for landscapes.

I have an X-T4 on pre-order but am revisiting the Z6 as an alternative due to the convergence in prices - interesting to hear that about the 24-70 kit lens -- went from Nikon film to digital and most recently Fuji mirrorless. I miss the AF and my D and AF-S lense collection (not too many G lenses). Any comment on the FTZ with older lenses (understand the limitation on AF)

The lenses I am interested in adding to my fuji kit would have been the 16 .4 and the 90 f2 which puts the 24 1.8S and 85 1.8S in line.

Lastly concerned about adding once again to the size of a travel kit. I was travelling with the fuji 18-135 and 23 1.4 for some time and really enjoy the compact and light-weight. Any opinions on Z6 travel kits?

Yup. It's a huge bargain as a kit. I used to lug around the bazooka of a 24-70 2.8G and this lens, plus the ibis in the Z bodies is just a better kit.

The 35 f1.8 is the equivalent of the 23mm f1.4, you will get faster AF of course and it's lighter than the 24-70 f4 of about 130grm.

Between f1.4 and f1.8 there is not a big difference in light stop but f1.8 in FF = 1.2 in apsc for depth of field (bokeh)

Another former Fuji user here (XT-3). I had several of the fast Fuji primes as I didn't like the kit lens and the 16-55 has no ibis and was heavy. Last fall I bought a Z6 with the kit lens and a few primes (35 S and 85 S). I really like the ergonomics of the Z6 over the Fuji, despite the classic Fuji look.

I agree the 24-70 f/4 S is a great lens and very versatile and better than any of the Fuji zooms. I also prefer the Nikon 35/85 S duo over the Fuji 23/56 one. I later added a Nikon 70-200 f/4 VR which I use with the FTZ adapter that was included with my kit. Overall, great kit and no regrets.

Clearly travel kits can vary greatly with size according to needs. As already mentioned the Z6 + Z 24-200 is very compact.

For travel I currently use the Z6 + Z 14-30f/4 S + Z 24-70f/4 S + AF-P 70-300 w/ FTZ which will all fit in the Peak Design Sling 10L. This is fairly compact to cover 14-300 and of course I don't have to carry it all at once.

A down the road option would be the Z50 plus its two kit lenses.

This lens is great on my Z7 for landscapes. I was just processing an image today, that I'll share here. It is hard to find a fault with this lens. Exceeded my expectations. This is from Zion Nat'l Park, in case anyone is wondering.
