......whiskers?

The above is a crop from the following image. I am sure that the crop could be upscaled a bit in gigapixel.
The following is the full size original. This is from the raw file opened in Photoshop Elements 2020 and played with a little bit including going through Topaz Denoise AI.

Clever camera.

Excellent shot, well done. 800 ISO, stacks of detail and no noise. For a 1" sensor camera that's a near miracle. You sure are mastering Topaz Denoise AI.

Edit. This is the second time I've posted this, I withdrew the first post because I'd accidentally given myself a 'like' instead of you. All sorted now.

Cat in a Robin disguise? :-) Nice.
That could be it Alwyn :-D and thank you.

Wow David, you really have that Robin trained to pose for those awesome shots. I am envious.
Ha Ha Jerry, all that training seems to have paid off....now for headstands :-D and thank you.

David

That's a great looking result David. You're lucky it didn't shave before the image was taken, otherwise you wouldn't have known about the whiskers. Also, it must be a male, or a female on testosterone.;-)

For future reference, try clicking Like again and it should be removed.

Very nice indeed.

You probably could have tried a slower shutter speed, for lower iso, as long as he was cooperating. When you are as good as you obviously are with PP, it matters a whole lot less than for a Jpeg OOC shooter like me.

Catbird? ;)

Trivia for people in the US: Here, the robin that's a harbinger of spring to come is not related to this excellently photographed robin. They are, in fact, a thrush species.

Thank you Elliott, very kind of you. Until very recently it has always been extra fine jpegs for me too. However, as well as the tendency of the UK light to be somewhat dull and grey at this time of year, the ambient light in my garden can make things tricky for photography, lots of shadows and reflections. So it seemed worth having a go with raw + jpeg as the raw file gives me a bit more to play with. And that variable light, particularly at this time of year, is the reason I have the ISO set to the 100-800 range, fortunately the latest denoise software does a good job of tidying things up.

David

Very smooth bokeh.
I find many of my backgrounds more distracting with the RX10 iv
Did you add blur or is that as shot?
Thank you GT. Nothing added, that is as shot...and, for interest, the background is simply tree branches/leaves about 15 yards behind the bird.

David
