Hi there!

I am planning to buy a SAM (star adventurer mini) for this milky way season. I have a little sony a6000 + rokinon 12mm/ sigma 30mm, which i plan to use (more the sigma) for this year milky ways and the SAM.

1- Tripod

I have only a cheap travel tripod, which i guess is not enough for the SAM+sony a6000+sigma 30 (in the future, Z6). I am looking for a better one, do you have any suggestion? I have seen the "Manfrotto MT055XPRO3" , which i can get for around 140€ (with no ballhead). Is it that enough? or do you have any other suggestion around that price?

PS: i also found this one, who claims a load of 12kg, carbon and cheaper/lighter....dunno if is enough : https://www.amazon.es/Neewer-100815...ords=neewer+tripod&qid=1582630315&sr=8-3&th=1

2- Bag

I usually carry my a6000+lenses in a little Mirrorless mover 20, but i would like a proper bag for the camera + SAM + tripod + some other ocasional stuff, for all those nights i go to photograph the milky way. Sadly, im in a budget (i could dig into the "Used market", here in Spain). What would you recommend, that is not extremely big? i dont wanna a super bag, just a normal one who could pack all my gear/future gear.

Thanks in advance, and sorry for my english.

How you set up any pod will have a big impact on how it works for astro. Keep'm low, keep the center of gravity of your mount/camera over the center of the pod (not always easy) & pre load it a bit - get one of these. What is your existing pod?

Ignore the made-up payload numbers you see for tripods. I've seen but not used the MT055. It & others in that size class like the Newer will be fine if you follow those recommendations above. Stick w/ no more than 3 leg sections or even just 2. I backpack with a 1 kg Slik CF634 w/ 22mm leg dia & have shot astro in 15-20 mph winds - low to the ground. Stick to a carbon pod that weights at least 1 kg - nothing smaller.

The question for you is how long will it be before you'll be wanting to mount longer lenses on the SAM & discover you need a bigger tracker & pod?

Thanks a lot for your answer and advices about the setup of the tripod

My existing tripod is this one: https://www.amazon.com/-/es/Andoer-...ords=andoer+tripod&qid=1582709382&sr=8-5&th=1

It is a pretty basic one. In the middle section of the amazon page, it says "load 3kg", but in the table says "5kg", dunno which one is the real one. Anyone, i guess both are low numbers...

About your final question, i have done myself that question a lot. In the moment, the thing i love more is doing milky ways. Maybe in the future i will start doing some DSO? dunno, but i dont think i will use anything longer than 200 (maybe i would buy some 70-200), and i think SAM could (in the limit) handle that. But again, my initial thoughts are only the milky ways shots.

Too many leg & leg sections.
