Hello,

I wanted to buy Sigma 50 f/1.4 for my Canon EOS Rp. So I rented it to check if everything will be OK. During test shoot I've notices that there are many portrait photos where nearest eye is not in focus. So I've checked the autofocus on the text.

And it works really strange. I thought that mirrorless cameras should focus properly always, but with this lens it always focus slightly back.

On this video I first focused manually, then on 00:00:12 half-pressed shutter button to use AF - and it got out of focus!

Did you do firmware updates with the sigma dock?

This lens works perfectly on my R.

This is why I use Canon lenses with Canon bodies. I have never had any issues. None...………………………………………….……..

Yeah right. Canons options:

- Go with the crappy EF 50mm f/1.4 USM,

- the very budget 50mm f/1.8 stm

- or with the 2500 euro RF 50mm f/1.2......

Sigma's option:

- Go with a used Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art for 350 euro and update the firmware.

If you don't like to update the firmware, just go Canon! The only issues you'll have is crappy IQ or a worn out bank account.

If you can't afford to pay you can't play.

Good luck getting optimal focus......

AF of the Sigma 50mm Art f/1.4 is wonderful. No luck needed, it just works flawless. The same is true for my 105mm f/1.4.

I can't afford to pay for RF f/1.2, still i can play. :)

Why are you trying to focus in the most extreme corner?

I love all my Sigma Art glass on my R. Can't beat the value and they focus perfectly on my R after all the firmware updates.
