Coming from someone who has not owned an x100 series camera (yet!)

i owned an original X100 and just avoided shooting close and wide open.

Its also nice to see they've fixed the ugly flare pattern issue.

I bought my X100S almost seven years ago and to this day I still use it extensively. With each iteration more and more of the few complaints/wish list items I've had for it have been met. Finally, with the X100V, my list has almost been entirely resolved. I will be upgrading. Can't wait!

It'll also be handy to be able to use all of my X-T3 Lightroom presets and the one battery type for both.

I'll go first with Jonas Rask: https://jonasraskphotography.com/20...-first-look-preview-the-desert-island-camera/

Always enjoy his take on Fuji cameras and the images are second to none.
Today was the first time I really took time and looked through his images. They are spectacular - I love his geometry and abstraction. On my best day I can get some of what he's getting but his range is incredible. Inspiring stuff.
He is also very good with the colors. His images are often very clean in terms of composition yet rich in colors.

I believe he can make any other brand sing

The X100V seems like a fantastic camera, but that 23mm focal length :(
I never became comfortable with it. Too wide for most portraits (except whole or 3/4 body) and not wide enough for fun/drama/action portraits. If the X100V gets even more popular and sells well I hope they will release the same camera with a 35mm or 16mm lens.

Maybe a fixed lens compact is not the right tool for you

A fixed lens compact is a perfect second camera for me, but not with a 23mm lens. It's a matter of taste. I can understand people who regard 23mm as a versatile focal length.

The 35 mm equivalent lens is one of the most versatile focal length you can find. It suits street photography so well.

You can expand your option by adding the two converters to make it a 28 or 50 mm equivalent.
I think the X100V is a killer tool for street photography.

My main complaint is that 26 MP is not enough. I would like higher MP

Cheers,

Max

has the bitching about processing x trans raw files been settled?
I looked into buying one some time back and the X trans sensor was a major headache for Raw shooters.
Yes, the whiners have moved on to another crusade. ;-)

Consider an XE-3 with a lens that suits your needs.

Naturally, one of the first things I looked at was the price.
I was surprised to see that here in Australia, the RRP for the Fujifilm X100V is $2399 AUD.
Now of course that includes our 10% GST (goods and services tax), so after allowing for this, the pre-tax price is $2180 AUD.
That's approximately $1475 USD at today's exchange rate, compared to the US price of $1399 = a $75 USD premium for southern hemisphere users.
(However, one of our major retailers, DigiDirect has pre-orders at $2249 AUD. After deducting the 10% GST, that's a pre-tax price of approx $1380 USD.)

For comparison purposes, most Australian retailers have been selling the Fujifilm X100F for $1799 as a standard price, and considerably lower than this during the recent holiday season (in addition to which, Fujifilm was offering a $300 cash back until early January).

At any rate, it will be interesting to see if early X100V sales in Australia are as good as for the X100T and X100F.
There's no doubt that the X100V includes many compelling improvements, but are these enough to offset an over-$2000 price tag?

If you’re pixel peeping, Lightroom still does not offer the capabilities of Capture One. However, there are Lightroom plugins that come close.

But the whole situation is overblown anyway. The overwhelming majority of us are amateur photographers, and the lionshare of that group really aren’t any good anyway. It doesn’t matter. You can still produce large prints that look great, even when using Lightroom.

Rockwell’s review is hilarious. He says over and over that he doesn’t care about certain changes, or that others don’t matter, or that updates are minor.

All the while the camera recording his review is focus hunting every 300 nanoseconds.

Like if he doesn’t care about that, then I’m not going to listen to the other stuff he doesn’t care about.
