Hi DPReview (first ever post)

I am trying to replicate the video sharpness of my Sony A7iii on my GH5. I love everything about the GH5 and I would like to get back to only having 1 body that does it all, I’m just not happy with the sharpness of the 4K video.

Am I asking too much of the mft sensor? Is it even possible?

I bought the Panasonic Leica 15mm f1.7 summilux which is listed as the sharpest lens on dxomark but still I’m not able to match the A7iii in sharpness.

FYI A7iii has the Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 attached.

Is the Panasonic S1 what I need to make this dream a reality?

Please help.

I don't know much about video, but I'd guess there shouldn't be much difference in sharpness. If I'm not mistaken, DPR TV use a few different cameras (FF & M4/3) but I never really noticed any difference in sharpness.

It doesn't appear to be a particularly important quality for video, unless something is going obviously wrong somewhere.

I didn't watch the videos as you said they have been changed by Google, maybe re-upload somewhere that doesn't modify them?

Hi All

Have a watch of this video.....

I think this clears it all up, A7iii is sharper and more detailed in 4K video. After a lot of testing the codec's in the GH5 hold up better to grading and the image stabilization is on another level compared to the A7iii. But if image quality in 4K video is what you are after the A7iii wins.

Might be time to try a Fuji X-T4 now... haha.

Thanks for everyone's input!
