I think Fuji is going to make a camera like the Olympus OM-D E-M1X

I have a theory - and its nothing more than that - but I believe that Fuji will soon release a camera that is like the Oly E-M1X m4/3 - but in APSC form

it will basically go after the A9 and new pro SlR from Nikon and Canon

1) it will have a built in dual battery pack

2) improved focus

3) ibis

4) very robust weather seal

5) long life shutter

6) smart predictive focus with stock presets for cars - train - sport - animal

it will look very much like this

to go along with it there may be a few fixed primes tele lens optimized for fast sports focus

the vibe of the camera will be very much like this :

Why?..because it's been such a great success for Olympus?

Oh - its a fantastic camera - I have used it - have you ?

I hate to break it to you but other than ultimate image quality it blows the X-T3 out of the water.

it got initially " poo- pooed" but is gaining a great reputation as time goes by as a highly under rated product.

try to find someone who bought one who does not love it

I am sure Fuji is paying much attention to it for ideas

It will be the X-H1 all over again - great camera that no one wants to pay for at full MSRP.

Hoards will buy it a 50% discount...can Fujifilm afford another X-H1 clearout sale?

I personally would love it!

Bring it on and please overstock it so we can get a bigger discount when they clear them out.

I'm sure it is a killer camera, BUT the primary advantage of smaller sensors is small size and lower cost. As soon as you make a camera the size and cost of a large FF..why not go FF? Like many other people, this camera makes no sense to me, regardless of its capabilities. I could perhaps see it making sense to people heavily invested in m4/3 glass.

That would be awesome!!! I would eventually buy this puppy for sure I love big bodies 👌

lens size and cost

there is a huge difference

Could be what the X-H2 will become...

Try to find someone who bought one. Surely that’s the real test. Even you didn’t, by the sound of it.

Because thats what the EM1X is... That's why its collecting dust on shelves everywhere. It doesn't have a user.

Pro Canikon shooters won't use it, especially that they'll be using the best from them in this coming Olympics.

That thing is a EM1 with a no removable grip, who wants that?

And double down on the sales disaster that was X-h1 (I like and own that camera by the way) after reading Olympus MIX's uninspiring sales numbers? Unlikely.

Did you notice that Olympus released new firmware for the OM-D M1 MKii and that camera is generating more excitement than the M1X. The market wants a leading edge APS-C but not one looking like the M1X.

Who cares about canikon I’ll buy one ☝️ I love one piece cameras with non removable grips 😉 have you ever held one in your hand?

I have and it was uninspiring. I'll rather a two-piece kit where I have the option to remove the grip when I want smaller & lighter. Different strokes :-)

How could you possibly know what the market, as a whole, wants?

Don't need or want to. Im not a sports or wildlife photographer. If I was, Id DEFINITELY wouldn't be shooting a EM1X. I would use a camera that caters to my shooting needs.

An Olympus head recently said he doesnt really know who the EM1X is for. -Like really? And honestly I have a X-H1 with the grip and 3 batteries deal, ask me how many times I needed the grip. Here's a hint, NONE.

I put the grip on, so I can get the idea of a bulkier, heavier X-H1, but my shooting dosen't need one.

I did carry the 3 batteries with me though!

If you want one, then buy a EM1X then. But that thing would sell worse than the X-H1.

Well we sure know the Market didn't want the EM1X, which is why Olympus is probably rushing to get the EM1 MkIII out.

Do you think Olympus made that camera thinking it was going to sell in huge numbers? I don’t think so.

It's an interesting and unexpected camera. I have a few friends that shoot wildlife w/ M43 and they value the compactness of their current EM1s and G9s over the larger EM1X.

It is noticeably larger than my un-gripped D850, basically the same weight, yet costing much more, and lacking the longer faster prime glass (only option is the 300mm f4).

One of the attributes of a larger pro-body or purchasing a grip (from a wildlife shooter's perspective) is that it balances better to the larger, heavier glass (something that the M43 ecosystem simply doesn't have).

Olympus's tracking is nice, no doubt. However, predictive tracking (despite advancements made) is still, very much scene and activity dependent.

I would have no qualms using tracking for subjects that are on a set path (runners, cars, cyclists, etc.). Where predictive tracking starts to fall apart is when you are photographing a wild animal going in front of and behind the various trees, shrubs, mounds, etc.

It will take some time before wildlife photographers let go of BBF and point focus (whether it is single or a cluster of points) as their primary option in favor of algorithmic driven tracking. I hope it gets there, but it's not quite there yet and is still very dependent on the environment.

I don't think Fuji needs to focus on making a 'pro' bodied camera just yet. The X-H1 and X-T1 grips are fantastic and, imho, perfectly suited for the lenses that they offer and most shooting applications. I'd rather they spend the energy on making longer, faster prime glass as opposed to introducing a niche form-factor.
