Hello everyone,

Hope you are well and enjoying the holidays. Even though I am in a Muslim country right now, it still feels very festive here.

Sharing a photo of Anni from our shoot. I really need to shoot her more. She can give expressions naturally.

Thank you and I'd appreciate any feedback.

Happy holidays.

Manzur,

Beautiful portrait as usual. And the model does really emote and give a beautiful winsome look.

I like the lighting as well.

Just one thing seems off to me and I can't tell if it is just the angle or distortion or my tired eyes. But the glass on the table seems to be bowing outward. It's a bit distracting to me as it looks almost as if this was shot with something like the 23mm lens and not 110mm. Not sure, maybe it's just me.

But a beautiful image none-the-less.

Good portrait! I'm glad to see you've fixed the hand. Whereas the side of the hand is what we want to see, we don't want that hand sort of hanging, doing nothing. Moving that hand over and perhaps have it touch the far side of the face or the collar would make for a more natural look. Good job!

Manzur, My Son...

You need to move her thumb up just one mm and have her bend it slightly forward towards her eyeballs which lead the viewer into a portion of the composition which stimulates a mood and feeling of tranquility, harmony and oneness with a greater power bigger than ourselves. 😋

Hey - I love your traveling portraits as you seek out models wherever you go in the world to practice your passion and craft.

Awesome.

But I have seen her before so she must be traveling with you. Not trying to ne nosy, but how you find your models as you travel more than anyone on this Board (even me) is fascinating. She is a relative, right? She is a fantastic model for your great portraits.

Thank you very much Mike. The glass is weird, I went back to the place once afterwards and checked it. The glass design is like that, crooked. It weirded me out too haha.

Happy holidays and a happy new year.

Thanks Macro Guy. The hand wasn't just hanging, she was touching her neck with the back of her hand and was moving it ipdownward from the underside of her ear. Maybe if I had shot it at a slower shutter speed, I could've captured the motion a little.

Happy holidays and a happy new year 😊

Greg, I hope you are doing well and enjoying the holidays. This portrait is not while I was traveling, I am currently at Bangladesh, and knocked her for a shoot and she kindly accepted. She is a friend, and she also work as a model / actress.

Happy new year 😊

When are you coming to Bali?

You are in Bangladesh! There is a kid on Flickr who I think is one of the best photographers in the world and he doesn't know he is. He posts an almost daily stream of phenomenal street shots of kids, old women, old men, and all kinds of people on the street and hanging out of train windows.... He uses an old Canon Rebel and cheap kit lens. He is amazing.... Need to find a link to his stuff.... I almost wish I could buy this guy a camera. Superb eye and shockingly good street shots of ordinary people in Bangladesh. They are not like the shots of the homeless or street people in the US. I hate those! No … this stuff he does is special....

Haha... well glad to hear it wasn't just me seeing things. Lovely image of a lovely young lady.

I love seeing your work with the GFX system and especially the 110mm f/2. Definitely influenced my decision to go with the GFX 100. Can't wait until after the new year so I can finally start shooting with it.

Happy Holidays and Happy New Year to you as well.

You portrait pros freak me out. I am terrified to even try it.

Greg, I am in Bangladesh right now, and guess what? I am from Bangladesh. Just that I don't stay here as much as others haha! There are some super talented photographers in Bangladesh. Find me the link if you can, and I'll send him your compliments :) Bangladesh is a developing country, and the street photos and candids are unique to many countries.

Wanna visit here on your tour? :P

Hahaha yeah, I got crazy thinking it was me seeing things so I had to go check the glass out hahaha.

Thank you very much, and the 110mmF2 is amazing. I have used many portrait lens from many different systems, and none impressed me as much as this. I'd probably give Canon RF 85mm F1.2 a close second.

Stay blessed!

yes, well you definitely have good taste. I have shot with the Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II for the last decade. It was the lens that brought me to Canon. I have updated to the RF version just a couple of months ago. It is amazing and really the only lens that could get me to give up my EF 85 which I have loved (faults and all).

But excited to jump back into MF after 25 years and the GFX 100 and 110 were definitely the combo that really appealed to me about the Fuji MF system.

I hope to share some images with the group once i get up to speed and do a few shoots with it.

Happy New Year!

Yes the 85 F1.2 L II is a great lens. RF 85 brings some of its back but with a lot more sharpness and AF speed. If Canon brings out a new high-res R body in 2020, I'll probably sell the Sony and get the body and the 85mm.

But, GFX with the 110mm is another game. When I first moved to GFX system from Nikon (9 lenses incl. 105 F1.4E and 200mm f2), I only had 110mm. It performed so great that I didn't even miss the 105mm f1.4 and the 200mm f2.

Looking forward to see your images here soon.

Happy 2020.

One of the things that makes the image work for me is the use of the background to divide it into quadrants, with the model integrating them. And the distracting glass shape nevertheless anchors part of the image by duplicating the color in the top right quadrant. I love the composition as a whole as much as the portrait itself.

Thank you very much Roland, I didn't see it that way, but now I see what you are talking about. Thank you.

Have a great day 😊
