Hi,

I'm trying to transfer a larger amount of photos (15 gig) from an iphone to a PC.

When I connect the iphone via USB I have to authorize the computer as a trusted computer and then I can access the files on the phone.

The problem is that when I drag and drop the folders (I only copy one folder at the time) the copying process starts but stops after a while when the phone disconnects. Then I need to unplug and replug the phone again - this makes it practically impossible to copy larger amounts of files.

I tried using Itunes but there's no option for transferring images from the phone to the computer.

Appreciate any tips on how to do this!

  • launch iTunes with phone connected
  • open OS file browser
  • navigate to device
  • copy / move / delete to your heart's content
thanks - running itunes in the background did the trick. I guess itunes held the session with the phone alive even though it wasn't used for the actual copying.

It looks like you have already resolved this issue, but this maybe useful to you or others in the future.

I was going crazy transferring over 10,000 photos from my wife's iPhone X to a PC and it kept disconcerting until I searched for a solution and came across the above YouTube video. Everything worked after changing the setting recommended.

Thanks! Tried that but the images were transferred not as jpegs but in a different format that I could open on the PC.

The way I solved it was by having iTunes open in the background. I copied and pasted as usual by dragging between folders. The session was kept alive the entire time just by having iTunes running in the background.
