Now that I can't print my own images, I'm considering having several printed by Bay Photo. Specifically, I'm wondering about the differences in color and saturation between their metal prints in high gloss, mid gloss, and satin surfaces. The subjects for my first set of prints from Bay would be my dogs, print sizes 11X14 inches (or their closest sizes) file sizes between 4 and 7 MB, edited in PS, Adobe RGB.

Also, does anyone here have a favorite Bay Photo wall mounting choice?

Their prints are wonderful. When I first had some metal prints made I believe there is a sample set that you can order at a discount showing the different substrate and surfaces and I recommend that you have them made. Personal aesthetic is so subjective that it is worth getting a set of sample prints your first go around.

Thanks - I have planned to order their trial package.

Curious - which surface did you order? I want excellent rendition of detail and color saturation, but I also want to reduce reflectivity as much as possible.

The white background with the gloss will always give the greatest saturation and appearance of sharpness but it is very very reflective. In a controlled environment it is great but opposite a row of windows really hurts the viewing experience. Some images can look very unique where the base is aluminum but it is truly image dependent.

I think you need to upload through their ROS system for the samples if I remember. You download the ROS software and it is in there you order the samples

Okay - thanks - I'll download ROES today. I'll need to get that "single print" thing off of whatever order form they have. Just went through the order options again (I do have an account, created yesterday, and I'm signed in) and still don't see anything resembling a Shopping Cart, no matter what ordering option I bring up.

Oh well - it's like so many other things, seems complex at the start, but will probably become simple over time.

Tried to reach Bay Photo by their internet Chat feature yesterday. Unsurprisingly, they never replied, until the "Chat" timed itself out. I'll try another support feature today.
