Any news on a review for the XA7?

I'm looking for a companion for my XT10, which I love, but getting a bit long in the tooth. Am thinking of the XA7, but maybe should wait til it gets to a reasonable price level. Am still waiting for a new X70 (ie X80), which I also love, as I haven't been impressed with the XF10.

How long do you think it will be before the price gets down to $500 US or less? Any hands on comments for those of us in the market for the XA7? Still looking for some good reviews.

If you don't need 4K video and can live without articulated screen, go for X-A5.

Same IQ, one or two extra buttons, cheaper.

Thanks for that, ALex. I checked this comparison (https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/preview/fujifilm-xa5-vs-xa7/)

and the XA7 does seem to have some advantages and a few significant upgrades in the sensor, better AF system, and low light capabilities, but still not sure if the $200 US difference is worth it. The 4K video is of no interest, nor the articulated screen.

Maybe will just wait for the XA7 to come down in price.

Well, it's not clear how much better the low-light capabilities of X-A7 are, I'd recommend to wait for DPR review to check shots in their studio lab.

As for the improved AF, I don't know how much it is improved over X-A5 and if the improvement justifies the premium. Check this video, it's a pre-production unit though, but IMO the AF is still next to useless for shooting moving subjects:

Edit: For some reason DPR can't open youtube videos from a certain position as in my link, so you either scroll to 3:50 or copy my link into your browser.

There are a few xa7 reviews out there, but not from dpr yet, which is odd since they have the xpro3 even though it's not out yet and the xa7 is shipping.

The xa7 also had a new sensor not in any fuji camera yet, so I dont think anyone can say it's the same as xxxx

It's the same Sony sensor as in most of other cameras. As long as you don't see the "this is a significantly better sensor" reviews with latest Sony/Nikon/Pentax cameras, it would be highly unlikely to see X-A7 to be better than the rest.

Just an opinion, of course.

At the core of the 11.3oz (320g) camera is a new 24.2-megapixel sensor

Compared to the sensor in the X-A5, the new sensor packs 8.5 times more phase-detection pixels

There’s also “industry-leading copper wiring to reduce digital noise, to ensure images and video are processed quickly and to ensure the best possible image quality,” Fujifilm says.

Everything I've traded is that it's a new sensor....
You really think Sony would release an improved sensor to Fuji ahead of it's own cameras? ;)

Sony a6300 has the "copper-wire" sensor since 2016. Fuji has the same sensor (with different array arrangement) on X-pro2.

While not advertized as "copper-wire", the X-A5 sensor give a similar if not better IQ than X-Pro2/X-pro3.

Anyway, just wait for DPR review to be complete to see if the IQ will be any better then of the X-A5.

Thanks, guys. WIll be waiting with bated breath for DPRs review. Let's go, DPR!!

In Australia at the moment, there is a premium of less than $20 for the X-T30 body rather than the X-A7 kit after the cashback, so it may be worth cross-checking the pricing where you are :)
