While we were out shooting skyline shots last night, I thought I would see how the ZS19 would do in a low light situation just for grins.

I think it did a very respectable job considering. Both shots were taken within a few minutes of each other and I tried to use a similar zoom setting.

Here's the ZS19 shot:

And here is a similar shot out of the Sony:

C&C's always welcome.

ZS19 did well, Jerry.

I gave mine to my Uncle a few years ago.

He still uses it.

Interesting how well the Sony holds onto detail, even at ISO 3200 vs. ISO 800 of the ZS19. Thought there was a bit too much noise, till I seen the higher ISO.

Better sensor in the Sony , for sure.

Congrats on the ZS19!

This is the very reason I still use my ZS25 (essentially the same camera as ZS19, but without that annoying "Touch Screen").

The pocketability of the ZS 19/25 far outweigh - for me - any slight IQ improvement other models may have - I've done 20x30 prints from the little ZS that never fail to impress.

I have an LX7 with very few clicks - every so often I make sure it's battery is charged, and mean to try it again but never get around to it, there is just no point in it. The few times I've used it I see no significantly superior IQ - and the same goes for some other larger-sensor cameras I've had in for repair {after I fix 'em, I get to try them 8^) !! }, including µ4/3 sensors, and honestly, I see so little difference that the extra bulk, cost and low built-in zoom ranges just makes the larger sensors academic.

To me, never being without a camera always wins over other considerations.

But, to each, his/her own. :-D

Thanks Anayv. I did a touch of searching and I found one of my shots at ISO 100. It should have less noise. By the way, I did not run any of these through a noise filter.

Well, the Sony has a much bigger sensor and a much much bigger price tag. But I do remain impressed with how well the ZS19 does. It is my backup camera and as you can see, it does indeed hold its own.

I am sure you would still be using your ZS19, had you not had that airplane window accident a while back.

Indeed that series of cameras does an excellent job. I know I am not the least bit hesitant grabbing the ZS19 if it is not convenient to grab the larger camera.

For the most part, if you are not pixel peeping but just making small prints or viewing on a screen, you are not going to see a lot of difference between the ZS cameras and the larger ones.
